I'm pretty excited to announce that I'm launching a little website with my brother in order to create a space online to post some writing and (possibly) other creative endeavors. Here's a link to our first post, which goes into what we hope to accomplish with it, as well as where our name comes from
About The Turnip Green
If you happened into a convenience store, gas station, or local sports bar in North East Florida or South East Georgia in from the mid-90's to the mid 2010's, chances are that among the crusty beer bo...

The way the press is treating chatbots, like they have agency and they “know” things all of a sudden, crossed the line recently from dumb and obsequious to something else entirely. Treating them as alive and making conscious decisions is an almost religious belief. It won’t age well.

Bought a Kindle late last year to kickstart my non-work reading again and was rewarded by picking a book (Wake Up and Open Your Eyes) that was became mostly a hate read by the end. Looking for a better horror book recommendation please 🙏

Now is the time to get on board the Shelved by Genre train! We've got a few of these recorded already and let me tell you, they're good as hell
With a knock on your door, a kindly wizard invites you to join us on Shelved By Genre's LORD OF THE YEAR, in which we will consider the popular but contested works of JRR Tolkien, kicking things off with a long rumination upon the first four chapters of THE HOBBIT: rangedtouch.com/2026/01/02/t...

If this year was about getting off US tech, 2026 is the year to reassess the digital revolution — what works, what doesn’t; what to keep, and what to reject.

I’ve only just started to consider what needs to change about how I use digital technology, but I’m excited to learn more next year.
We need to reassess our relationship to digital tech
Getting off US tech led me to a wider questioning of digital convenience

This guy is the definition of go away heat. I never wanted to turn it off more than when this thing was on screen.

"What if The Lord of the Rings but without any of the passion or even an attempt to replicate the tone of the source material?" At least Ian Mckellen adds a sense of both grandeur and whimsy, though that does little for the overall experience.
Hey guys, this first Hobbit movie. It's not good!

My wife made some caraway seed scones with raspberry lavender jam and clotted cream. We're going to begin our annual rewatch of the LOTR movies, but this year we're watching The Hobbit movies first because we hate life and ourselves. I'm gonna post through it.

Just try to name a situation that wouldn't be improved with a nice serving of BBQ baked beans. Just try and I'll tell you how wrong you are.

SEKTORI is now fully ruining my life. If you *ever* responded to:

- bullet hell
- twin stick shooters
- Geometry Wars
- house music
- pretentious bullshit using the Evangelion typeface
- blowing up shapes
- shit everywhere
- Rez, Thumper, etc.

then RUN to this. $15. GOTY??? (PS5, XBox, Steam/WIN)
Drop everything and play Sektori
Sektori is phenomenal. It's also far deeper than it seems.

Does anyone else bristle at this framing? WSJ says blue books are “torturing” students with hand cramps, and “nobody likes them.”

Listen, students have been outsourcing everything to AI and cheating their way through college. Blue books should be celebrated as a return to authentic human learning.
They Were Every Student’s Worst Nightmare. Now Blue Books Are Back.
Cheating with ChatGPT has become a huge problem for colleges. The solution is painfully old-school.
