90% of us are two or three months away from getting rounded up in one of these "street cleanings." The unhoused aren't someone's daughter, husband, child, friend, the unhoused are US, just days into the future.
If you are okay with this, if you think this is justified, if you think people living on the street have brought this upon themselves, if you think this is good leadership, you may be able to fool yourself that you care about others but you don’t fool me

There's a fascinating implication, that because he's aware that people will call him an asshole, that he's therefore right, rather than a very normal and predictable sort of terrible.
If your dog is so important that you would face off against a wild bear, you should probably reconsider your devotion to that dog. I will be called an asshole for saying this.

I once wrote a note to @kierongillen.bsky.social about how much I was enjoying a comic series he was on. He responded quite quickly and thanked me quite effusively, later tweeting that part of the reason he loves his job is hearing from fans. It was lovely to be a part of that.
