This is my dance about how much transphobes suck.

I was nodding along, thinking, "Yep, totally concur." Then, somewhat unbidden, I imagined the guitarist from my old high school-era band yelling at his instrument to "STAY TUNED!" and I thought, "If my kids ask, I'm telling them it's something Andy Hicks used to say."

Need more sleep.

Welp. At least I'll be in good company.

At the mechanic to get an exhaust check-up and I’m pretty sure I’m *not* supposed to look at the pretty blue light of the blowtorch, but it’s cool-looking and it makes sparks and the alternative is local news on the TV next to me.

Thanks, man. I kinda really needed to hear that this week.

My favorite comic strip turns 75 today, just a few days before my own 48th birthday. I don't know why I always forget the anniversary is so close. Good grief!

The first Peanuts strip by Charles M. Schulz was published on October 2, 1950.
Four black and white panels of a boy and girl sitting on steps. 1st panel: Charlie Brown is approaching and the boy says “Well! Here comes ol’ Charlie Brown!” 2nd panel: As Charlie Brown passes, he says “Good ol’ Charlie Brown…yes, sir!” 3rd panel: “Good ol’ Charlie Brown…” 4th panel: Once Charlie is gone, “How I hate him!”

Yes, last night. Feeling a little better now that I vented. Thanks for listening!

7. You don't belong here.

8. They're all wondering why they invited you, you idiot.

9. Never go out again, you poor excuse for a human being.

10. Don't post about this on the internet, you dummy. You're going to do it anyway, but I'm going to try one last time to convince you that nobody cares…

4. They told you to order what you wanted, but they didn't want you to order THAT.

5. It's embarrassing that you didn't order a soup/salad after you were embarrassed how much your entrée cost—especially now that everyone is eating something but you.

6. They're all kind of wishing you would leave.

a sampling of things i tell myself during a night out with old friends:

1. If you can't find parking, just go home. They don't really want to see you anyway.

2. You're so fat that they're embarrassed to be seen with you.

3. That thing you said just now was the stupidest thing ever said by anyone.

Like Monica says, you should read it. And not just for the future bits—which are marvelous and incredibly well-imagined and well-wrought—but for the masterful blending of three different timelines, each of the other two equally well-done.

Just wanted to mention here that I wrote an ENTIRE BOOK about a future utopian society based on perpetual mass migration. You should read it :)

If I could afford it, I would. I'd love to collab some day. Gotta get my feet wet in the whole universe first though, and not just what I'm getting via Substack. That's why I went for the digital catch-up bundle. Can't wait to start reading! And then maybe next time!

That's a great idea for a tier.

I'm not crying, you're crying.

Great. Now try convincing them (us) to vote for the same person INSTEAD of this asshole they (we) all hate.

The backlash to ABC/Disney canceling Kimmel has been swift, and severe. The whole episode underscores something I've been blogging about for a while: A lot of powerful people just don’t realize how unpopular Trump is

Thanks so much! I give myself such a hard time so much of the time that seeing them laid out like this is one of the easiest moments to realize how much work I've done.

Also: there is a guy in front of me driving a white Chevy truck with a bumper sticker that reads “warning: big truck, small penis.“

I am not sure what to make of it. Self-awareness? Reverse psychology? A little of both?

The sign by the side of the road reads “dollar forever. Store closing.”

So I guess it’s not really forever, is it?

I did not know how much I needed to hear Jeff Bridges say, “Nine Inch Nails, man” until just now.

Now I just need to hear him say, “Trent Reznor was able to compose this IN A CAVE. WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!”

I saw your post on this the other day and forgot to comment that I think some streaming software can strip out the audio of what you're listening to and only stream your voice. I recall doing that at some point when I was streaming on Twitch.

…it might end up being the best chapter of the story yet. So, at least there's that.
