They should make this article required reading at all community care/organizing/diversity trainings. :|
A lot of people want to join organizations and help out right now. This is great! And you should also be careful, especially with "new" orgs just getting off the ground.

Be especially careful of those who use nonprofits and progressive orgs as hunting grounds to feed their own ego.

It’s been seven months since I was laid off and in that time I have applied to many many jobs and have had one interview and one phone screen. My unemployment runs out next week.

I am not okay.

Really interesting thread.

The kids are alright.
Last term I tried an experiment: I walked into my Tech and Design Ethics class, admitted that I had *no idea* what to do about ChatGPT - so I would let them figure it out.

As in: their first project was to decide and write the ChatGPT policy for the class.

Here's what happened:

May those damages strike only the homes of the terror agents who are currently occupying Minnesota. May the ice and rain do damage that just gets worse the longer the occupants are away. May Snow Miser strike them simultaneously in their homes and where they stand.
Widespread freezing rain and sleet are expected south of the primary snow axis. Significant and damaging ice accumulations are likely, with the potential for long-duration power outages, tree damage, and dangerous travel conditions.

I was just scrolling my LInkedIn connections and there are 3 dead people there, including my recently deceased cousin and seeing her face has just about flattened me.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

Hot take: Reese is the worst character in ACNH because all she does is swoon over her husband after you get something customized by him. It would be cool if she had patterns the way Sable does, but she sells them. Make her more than a stereotype, Nintendo!

So I’ve discovered that reborn dolls are just as creepy in 2026 and when I discovered them in 2003 or 2004.

American idioms can be confusing for outsiders.

Like how "I could care less" and "I couldn't care less" mean the same thing.

Or how "I'm a small government conservative" means "I think government agents should be able to shoot citizens in the street for no reason with total impunity."

My cousin Kathy died today. She struggled with her health her entire life and it was basically the perfect storm the last two months. She was in her mid-50’s and we’re all gutted.

I was in line at CVS with an old white man collecting his social security, his medicare, and his navy pension who said, with his entire face, that Democrats aren't people.

I chose not to call him an entitled fascist pig.

Please admire my strength.

I always wonder why people follow me on social media. Not the people who already know me, but the total strangers. Am I on some list or something?

It looks like it's been scrubbed from every official 60 Minutes page now.

It's only a 30-second promo but here it is if you didn't get a chance to see it.

“An Irish Airman Foresees His Death” (Yeats) but only because I have a haunting musical version with Shane MacGowan reciting the lines in a mad rush at the end.

Lots of Yeats in my head—mostly fragments or single lines.

Happy Delaware Day! Today is the 238th anniversary of our ratification of the Constitution, making us the first state!

I never thought I'd stay here, but I have & it is home. Even though I have contracted Northern Delaware Driving Disease--if it's more than 5 miles away, it's too far.
