Let's make a promise here, friends... we ARE going to abolish ICE. Not REFORM it. ABOLISH it. And we're going to put that massive budget back into funding all the things that actually HELP people.

IMPORTANT NOTE: "We Have A Ghost" on Netflix is not just silly. It is also poignant and sweet and made me cry for the last half hour but is also a thriller? And lots of complex parent/child stuff.

There are very workable flaws but also it's really, really lovely and wonderful.

It's never a bad time to bring up that we

have the resources and ability to provide housing, food, clothing, healthcare, and education to everyone at no direct cost to the individual; and we just choose not to do it.

People should just get paid six thousand dollars a month to exist. You may have counterpoints and things to consider about this idea but let me just get ahead of them: shut up

Boycotts keep getting called w no support, just a cursory thought to inadequate suggested alternatives.

Then folks get dismissed for not using them, when you never checked whether they met our needs.

And my fam is doing OK! Got some income, mid-sized city. Just spoonies w food restrictions.

Reminder for boycott talk of complex retailers: Amazon & Target both sell food.

My fam relies on both to affordably source food items we use everyday.

Local bookstores don't help us here. And even if they had our needed allergy-friendly items, local grocery store owners proudly flew in for Jan 6.

Update on my job's AI use: a cpl months later, the software hasn't improved in the slightest. I spend every shift trying to correct a low-accuracy machine that fights me *every single keystroke*.

In celebration of World Octopus Day, we wanted to revisit one of our favorite cephalopod sightings, the glass octopus — Vitreledonella richardi filmed during a month-long #PhoenixIslandsCoral expedition in 2021.

Scarleteen remains one of the best youth resources for sexual health information.

What they’ve been able to do, for this many years, is incredible. Tell everyone you know and love about Scarleteen.com!

It does not mean "throw money at a living campaigning Nazi if you like their oil paintings" and just like "no ethical consumption under capitalism" slogan-ification has turned a helpful heuristic for analyzing a situation into a permission structure for assholes to defend their worst impulses

Separate the artist from the art is about not treating the artists' explanation as somehow sacrosanct or the final word, to avoid treating it as strictly autobiographical, or at most politically its meant to recognize the contribution of long-dead artists whose work has shaped other cultural works

I do still work at the same company. Just... editing an AI doing my previous job very poorly. 🥴

For the work certification I have - to do work that doesn't exist at my employer anymore, and may or may not exist anywhere by end of year bc AI - I can now get a partial CEU on AI ethics.

"When feminist struggles enter phases of rapprochement with the state, they throw Indigenous, 'deviant,' Black, sexualized, sex-working women and other gender minorities under the bus." @reproutopia.bsky.social talks with Aya Gruber about truly abolitionist feminism.
Leaning In to State Violence - Sophie Lewis interviewed by Aya Gruber - Inquest
In ‘Enemy Feminisms,’ philosopher Sophie Lewis engages with the feminism of racists, colonizers, fascists, cops, and jailers to better understand what a truly liberatory politics needs to look like.

If everything that trauma survivors felt was our fault and/or our responsibility actually was our fault or our responsibility, we'd be wielding some incredible supernatural power over the world. I mean, goddamn, Sam.

Good thing that's just Trauma Brain f*cking with us.

It's interesting seeing the different ways resistance has formed in different cities. Los Angeles Organized, Chicago Radicalized, and Portland Got Weird as Fuck. All 3 have had success unifying their respective cities.

I guess my point is there are multiple paths to ungovernability.

If you care about public health, you have to become a revolutionary. If you care about medical research, you have to become a revolutionary. If you care about climate change, labor conditions, the well-being of children in war zones—you have to become a revolutionary.

There is no more middle ground.

If you care about public health, you have to become a revolutionary. If you care about medical research, you have to become a revolutionary. If you care about climate change, labor conditions, the well-being of children in warzones, there is nothing else for it—you have to become a revolutionary.

There is no going back to the way things were, to the future that we once anticipated. The old world is in flames around us.
