okay somehow this totally banal observation about the relative scale and influence of social media platforms has made some people extremely mad
i have said this before but if you are actually interested in influencing people beyond a narrow circle of too-online journalists you will be making direct to camera videos on tiktok, instagram and youtube. if you primarily post on text-based social media then you're just dicking around.

Trump doubles down on his Rob Reiner attack: "I wasn't a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person... He became like a deranged person, Trump Derangement Syndrome. So I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all in any way, shape or form. I thought he was very bad for our country."

And the thing about it is that the Noams Chomsky of the world got exactly what they wanted out of Bosnia. We imposed an arms embargo on all belligerent parties, and it resulted in the longest siege* since Leningrad. To say nothing of Visegrad, Prijedor, Srebrenica, et plurima alia.

The thing about Noam Chomsky is that he didn't have to comment on the genocides in Bosnia and Kosovo at all. He just did it for the love of the game

He developed a framework about the relationship of expertise to the media during the Vietnam War, and he applies it to literally everything everywhere
people crying over chomsky on this website are repulsive frankly. he was quite plainly a piece of shit long before anything related to epstein came out
fuck right off with this too please.

Chomsky has been quite clear that he doesn’t think his relationship with Epstein is anyone else’s business and we can and should draw adverse inferences from that.

sorry he wrote some things you liked; bold thinkers can be monsters too.

SCOTUSblog used to serve a really important purpose when SCOTUS didn't put every filing online. It was extremely useful how they uploaded everything! But now it doesn't do much of anything any more.

Lol at this defense of The Dispatch's "Inerm Docket Blog" at SCOTUSblog, which starts with a nonsensical 'Annie Hall' analogy and concludes by insinuating that people objecting to shadow docket cases are just mad about the substance, and maybe not sophisticated enough to understand procedure

You wanna talk about a crisis of masculinity? I have been adamant that one does not exisit, at least within the framing of the current moment.

But thinking about it some more has led me to believe we do have a crisis of masculinity. Except it goes back decades-to WW2.

The reason people dunk on guys like Mark Cuban on here so much isn't because of some arbitrary hate, it's because guys like Mark Cuban are constantly asking the most naive questions as if it's a total thought experiment to consider having higher wages, or healthcare, but there's countries doing it!

The movie ends, Rob stands up, and Frank braces himself for the double-barreled shotgun blast. Rob walks up, tears all over his face, and says, quietly, "It's the best film Castle Rock has ever released. Good work." And then he left.

Class. Fucking. Act.

Reddit is growing because it's just a collection of forums and people like their niches. Substack is something else and I'm bored even writing this sentence about it. All I know for sure is the reporters and commenters who spend their whole day on Twitter in 2025 have to go to a hospital.

As a guy who has to run a media company, the web has wholly balkanized and the places people get their information are YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, then everywhere else. Text-based social networks have been split up into hegemonic forums. Threads has faux scale, X has ragebait, Bluesky has jokes.
