There's never been a better time for people (both journalists and sources) to familiarize themselves with @securedrop.org, @torproject.org, and related tools
With the 60 minutes leak, the many recent Epstein releases, etc., I think we are seeing the future of government accountability under authoritarianism:
Leaks, hacks, data dumps, releases of big document caches.
Journalists and the public will have to learn how to digest this stuff. 🧵

my thing is even I didn't have a fiery personal grudge against Twitter, I would not use it for the same reason I don't use Facebook - it's a miserable user experience. It's nothing but ads and ragebait and ai slop. It doesn't have to be a moral stance, it's just a shit product

This isn't quite as bad as it sounds (at least technically, socially it's actually very bad) but it does have "retrospectively significant event in the timeline of the apocalypse" vibes to it

I've never seen it put so eloquently, but this has essentially been both my philosophy and my lived experience since I was, like, twenty
i think if you ride public transit enough you learn that most weird behavior is not dangerous, and conversely i think driving a car teaches you that everyone is trying to kill you at all times

One of the reasons I'm more hopeful than I thought I'd be at this point is that this reality is too obvious and too unstoppable.
We're doing some incredibly embarrassing shit right now in the US but the vast majority of the rest of the world gets it and is moving quickly.
