Time to update my tournament bracket. Annabelle's gonna be King Omega and you can take that to the bank!!
azalben.bsky.social
LOL. Annabelle is going to be in DC K.O. Yes, Annabelle, the doll from The Conjuring movies.

Bring back my girl, Marvel!!!
Bronze, from Exceptional X-Men. She's a young, black woman whose mutant powers allow her to turn her body into solid bronze that she can control seemingly at will.

Between those two and The Crying Doll, I going to be feasting in 2026!!

With Condon's Green Arrow, this was basically a lock already, but I've been reading his and Phillips' That Texas Blood this week and holy shit! What a damn comic; what a damn team!

I can't imagine a more exciting project for the relaunch of Vertigo!

No where near as impressive as this, but I wrote an 8 page paper in high school on A Tale of Two Cities the night before it was due. Got an A on that thing. I have never read A Tale of Two Cities.

If you need a robot to tell lies for you, then you are simply weaker than me.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.
wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
You people couldn't hang with real slackers.

I'm two chapters in and this already layer upon layer of systemic abuse carried about by a police force, and the ways this system preserves itself, without resorting to hyperbole or the persecution fantasies of privileged folks.

I am absolutely side-eying a different series that will remain unnamed

Never read Trudi Canavan before. Grabbed The Magicians' Guild audiobook on a whim, looking for some old school-feelin' fantasy to listen to while I work.

I think this rules?? Am I going on a Trudi Canavan deep dive after this??

SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

I wonder why it's been so hard to find time for gaming lately :/

Surely unrelated, I'm currently walking home from the library with 7 books in my bag.

One could say that this is too many comics. Not me though 😇 Bangers exclusively!
A whole bunch of new comics, layered on top of each other. The front row features Cheetah & Cheshire Rob The Justice League #3, Absolute Green Lantern $7, and a Muppet themed variant for Amazing Spider-Man #13.

League of Comic Geeks is doing some special Darkseid themed reading challenges this month to go along with the launch of the DC KO event, and one of them has led me to the 1970s series Forever People!

I'm obsessed lmao. This is just 11 issues straight of Jack Kirby scifi wackiness and pathos!
The cover of Forever People #1, from 1970. It depicts a group of what can be best described as Mad Max-y sci-fi hippies in a giant three wheeler with extra seating driving down the road. Superman is trailing behind them asking for directions to "Supertown."

If you need me, I'll be buried in a mountain of blankets and with my entire head in a bucket of ice cream.

Seriously, this run has been phenomenal. I'm sure whatever creative team comes next will do an amazing job, but the first cover without this team's names is gonna crush me. An all-timer!

Issue thirty-one of GREEN ARROW will be my final issue on the title. It's been fantastic to work with Montos, Buddy, Hass, Adriano, and Chris Rosa on the book. More than that, it's been a dream to work on a character like Ollie for DC Comics. I'm bummed we have to end things here...
