Grumpy Black crone who likes to think and explore (and seek mindfulness, within reason). In pfp: a hedgehog with a kente kufi on its head, and red laser eyes. Not chill. “Coward American” — an opp.
Currently rearing an aging, unsociable 🦔 rescue.

Quick intro:
- mid-30s, Fenty 450, Niger Deltan descent 👋🏿
- known elsewhere for locked account where I vented about bad grad school XP
- older now; venting isn’t good for my blood pressure
- non-professional account: expect cooking, plants, mourning pets, deconstruction of fundie upbringing (1/)
Just did this to help my old injury site loosen up. It helped. Maybe it will help with sleep too. 👍🏿

I love watching a movie where a character says things like, “I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve see my little brother. Was the last time when our parents, who raised us, died in that car crash that we, their children, who are brothers, survived?”
I am watching a series in which the protagonist addresses his daughter as "babygirl" and his son as "little man" and his partner as "partner." The insistence that TV needs to be for people who can't bother to look at the screen is killing writing, show by show, episode by episode, line by line.

Ahead of Valentine’s Day, I’m thinking about this 2008 Guggenheim Fellowship bio from Harry Bernstein, who published his first novel at age 96, which was written shortly after the death of his wife of almost 70 years.

I’m crying, you’re crying, we’re all crying.

This pops up every once in awhile and I always share it. Wu Tang goes in and out of popularity with the times, but there's no denying there was a Dream Team level of talent and brilliance on that roster. True artists.

Pausing these watch rings so I can take care of hedgie, eat something small and wind down myself. It was a busy week, and I think my workout efforts still require more sleep out of me. I found a sleep tincture in the cupboard so… we’ll see.

As for me and my house, I’ve considered myself middle aged (or a crone) since I was 30. Running injury taught me that the older body takes a lot longer to recover and trying to keep up with my younger self isn’t sustainable. I won’t do things to hold on to being young. Those years sucked anyway.

While I can’t find a direct source for this, I’ve seen this being discussed in magazine articles and other places.

What’s the problem? Y’all can’t say you’ve put on “grown person” weight, complain about cracking knees and not being able to eat what you used to w/o accepting you’re getting older.

It’s not frou frou-frou to say there’s power in the arts
Which is a bit alarming that the only way to get people to pay attention isn't with evidence, resources, research or facts but using a play with actors
I think that Amazon commercial did more in making the public aware of Flock cameras than anything else before it has.

My next post is gonna be me telling everybody that their AI pictures look nothing like them and it’s giving me second hand embarrassment. I’m ready to be the villain.
