1/20: During Vietnam men were drafted into a war most didn't ask for, didn't want, & found morally unacceptable. Many burned their draft cards.

Cis ppl have now been drafted into an anti-trans war unrequested, unwanted, & morally unacceptable.

& yet no one burns their Birth Certs. Why is that?

Thank you! I heard an obit on the radio that ignored it completely, and soft peddled his racism.
Excuse me, @theguardian.com, I'd like to report an error in your headline; this should read "James D Watson, who co-discovered Rosalind Franklin's notebook showing her discovery of DNA's twisted-ladder structure, dies aged 97"

For those who keep posting the NYT article; Teen Vogue published it earlier... back when they had political reporting last week.
here is my story about how Zohran's focus on community amid the loneliness epidemic helped young people connect their politics to an organizing infrastructure, that interviewed ZM, and does not use the NYT's framing of "they don't know how to make friends" :-) and also ran 4 days before NYT's lol
Zohran Mamdani's Establishment-Fighting Campaign Built Community for Young People
“What Mamdani has done is not only inspire and mobilize young people, but he has exposed the establishment and some of their calcified views of participation and inclusion.”

Walmart, McDonalds and Amazon are the largest employers of people who require SNAP assistance.

The CEOs earned between 18-40 million last year, 1000x their median employee income.

They took billions in profits, while their workers relied on SNAP to survive.

Wanna fix fraud and abuse?

Fix that.

Another one bites the dust.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

When white people react with hostility to sharing space with Black and brown folk, they don’t care if those folk were born here, migrated legally, or are “illegal aliens.” They only see non-white faces who “don’t belong in their space.” This is why “ordinary concern” about migration is basic racism.

Something not many ppl know is that as many as 1 in 20 patients with breast cancer are cis dudes.

One in 20.

I'm not saying that 95% isn't a dominant majority or that breast cancer treatment isn't a women's issue, but if my dad hadn't been an oncologist, I would not have learned this til today.

As SNAP hangs in the balance for nearly 42 million people, misinformation is rampant. Myths of laziness and fraud persist when we should be talking about too low wages for workers, income inequality, and our threadbare social safety net.

In this guest post, Adam Chandler sorts fact from fiction:
SNAP benefits feed essential needs while still leaving many hungry for more
Journalist and author Adam Chandler explains what so much of the conversation about them gets wrong.

It's not new, that we are the criminals.

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

No one deserves to starve.

We have enough food to feed everyone, but we have a serious problem with wealth inequality.

We must stop viewing those who are disabled and/or poor as moral failures and start recognizing the system is rigged against us.

It’s rigged against everyone but the 1%
