Let us sit about, and speak, feverishly. Chatting into the wee hours...
She said, "You're pretty good with words
But words won't save your life"
And they didn't, so he died
What’s the best song lyric in history?

One of the best to ever do it. Some actors are chameleons. Robert Duvall was NOT a chameleon. But he was an actor capable of using his core attributes in an astonishingly versatile assortment of ways, always in service of the projects he smartly chose. #RIP
Robert Duvall, All-Purpose Actor With Few Peers, Dies at 95
The seven-time Oscar nominee, a winner for 'Tender Mercies,' also was memorable in 'The Godfather,' 'Apocalypse Now,' 'To Kill a Mockingbird' and 'Lonesome Dove.'

okay, in my latest attempt at the hustle, i'm adding an option to buy a movie review from my Patreon. I'm not sure I set this post up right--I want people to be able to read the bulk of it without paying so they know what they're buying, but i'm not sure if it worked.

I've watched CO-OP so many times that I occasionally forget that CO-OP is not a real musical.
There are HUNDREDS of people who watched this show! Do you hear? HUNDREDS!!
It's only February, but this has gotta be the most unusual, least expected coffee table book of the year: 600 pages and 7 pounds on Documentary Now! I wrote the introduction, I'm proud to say. You can pre-order it signed (by me!) at the link. Publication date is May 2026. mzs.press/PRE-ORDER-SI...

UNBREAKABLE. Literally just watched it again, showed to the kids for the first time.
Name a film you've seen 8 times

This week's Babylon 5 review, "Mind War," is live for my patrons! Fun episode, and Walter Koenig makes a pretty terrific bad guy:

SPOILER ALERT: He will not achieve this goal, either.

Elon Musk's ambition to one day settle Mars appears to have taken a back seat for a rather nearer and more achievable goal – sending humans to live on the moon. https://cnn.it/46sbAMm

Anyone will travel to Moon. This will so cool. Beer good, fire bad.
This is one of things. Bigtime.

"I seem to have died, is that okay?"
Does anyone else have an MST3K line they use regularly, even if it makes no sense out of context?

Because I have both "That'll keep your panfish down for a while." and "Come come, boys, we must confound Jerry at every turn!" from MST3K the movie alone.

You non-sports fans have to understand that for people who are really into pro football, today is basically their Super Bowl

If you never watched Search Party, it’s on Netflix now. The first three seasons are great TV, and then the final two are the closest a sitcom has ever gotten to Holy Motors or The Magic Mountain.

I continue to be fascinated by webcomics comments. Like, the main character of Dumbing of Age's *entire arc* is about learning to no longer be afraid of divine punishment for her sins, and here's a big contingent of commenters pissed off she isn't being divinely punished for her sins.
when a main character does something wrong, you yeet that character and then promote the previously next-most-moral secondary character to main character status, or people won't understand what's wrong and right

Sure, oh hey, what about this, what if the Riddler comes after an ICE agent. What if Kang the Conqueror travels through time to abduct a ICE agent and bring him into his Dynasty. What if he's hunted by the School of Mensis to further their plan to birth The One Reborn. These things happen, Joe.
Chuck Schumer says ICE should be allowed to wear masks in "unusual circumstances—you know, some guy's picture was put up by a terrorist group or something."

I know you come to me for up-to-the-minute hot takes on current video games, so let me just chime in here and say that the ending to the City That Never Sleeps DLC for Marvel's Spider-Man (2018) was incredibly disappointing and anti-climactic.

At its conclusion, they wept blood and screamed they had seen the beating heart of the world, they had looked the universe itself in the eye as it stared back, unblinking. They tore off their clothes, brandished torches, and announced their intention to march on the heavens and kill God. Electric!
Kayleigh: My mom went to see Melania. She said the theater was packed, it was standing room only. People were cheering through it, they were excited. It was interactive—people interplaying with the film. She said it was just electric.
