Tried and true classic liberal Democrat. Believe in America. Believe in science. Believe we can disagree and still coexist.

Study after study shows campaign ads barely move the needle. So where does money’s real power come from? I ranked the five ways money corrupts politics—from least to most corrosive. What I’ve learned from 15 years of tracking political money:
Money Doesn't Buy Elections. It Does Something Worse.
Campaign ads barely move the needle. The real influence is hiding in plain sight.

Every leader in the world, especially our enemies, knows how easy it is to manipulate Trump with flattery and bribery.

If he was a Democrat everyone would be appalled at the national security risk and demand he be removed.

I know everyone is ragging on Newsom for this clip, but is he just against a wealth tax but still on on board with larger income taxes for billionaires?

The wealth tax as an idea is somewhat controversial...

Doesn't mean he's pro-billionaire. 🤷‍♂️

IDK
Gov. @gavinnewsom says he disagrees with Mayor @zohrankmamdani about the need for a wealth tax on billionaires, which he is “adamantly against” - says Dems are a “big tent party” with both views.

Kind of amazing how these dudes can be SO wrong and the companies are just too big to fail...or even convince stock owners the company isn't worth investing in.
Meta Platforms is planning cuts to the metaverse—an arena Mark Zuckerberg once called the future of the company—and will shift spending to AI wearables.

Can't we just pass a law saying scotus has no jurisdiction over election/districting issues?
We really need term limits for SCOTUS
i can’t believe we’re going to be dealing with these guys for the rest of my life

And I'll add that one of the reasons why students may not value the experience of writing is because much of the writing they're asked to do in school does not require thinking. In fact, they're given lots of methods (templates, et al) that actively discourage thinking.

If non-combatants surrender on the open seas and no one can hear them over the drone rotars...did they ever really surrender?
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), to reporters, after viewing video footage of the U.S. strikes on alleged drug boats in the Caribbean on Sept. 2:

"Righteous strikes." "Entirely lawful."
December 4, 2025 at 7:47 PM
The "fight" they were trying to stay in was called "life"
Q: What did you see in the second strike?

Cotton: "I saw two survivors trying to flip a boat -- loaded with drugs, bound for the United States -- back over, so they could stay in the fight."

So we are going to help people determine truth via...gambling...on people's opinions???

Just a reminder that humans are largely...humans. Men talk crap about women and women about men.

The idea that if women were in charge and managed everything and men "sit down and shut up" and the world would magically be perfect is...wishful thinking.

This is the idiot future these people are driving us toward.

Disgusting.
SCOOP: Sources tell me Donald Trump's name was added to the exterior of the US Institute of Peace building ahead of Thursday's peace agreement signing between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), which will be held inside the building. Confirming if it's been officially renamed.

At some point there will be a company that starts offering a service that manipulates the data available to these algos...to rig it so you get cheaper products...if we do indeed head down this pathway.

Yep
The first rule of low-turnout special elections is you do NOT talk about low-turnout special elections.

Really weekend at bernies level shit right there.

Nice try.

I'm not *that* old. 😄
If Stranger Things was remade today and set the same number of years ago as S1 it would be in 2003 and instead of a resurgence of a Kate Bush song it would be Hoobastank, the kids would dress up for Halloween like Neo and Trinity. No I can’t prove this is actually correct I am not going to do math.

They also skip the part where everyone watching porn on their device is also showing everyone around them they are watching porn on their device.

In fact clear devices would only work in a dystopian future where society has outlawed privacy...
the visual shorthand for futuristic technology in a lot of mainstream media now is like "what if your phone or tablet was just a clear rectangle" bc they've run out of ways to make tech look "newer" and it's literally a terrible idea like why would u want that it would make reading so difficult

Could we...and I'm just spitballing here...replace the fossil fuels with...say...humans running around continuously as they shoot laser beams and/or paintball at each other? 😉
Everyone is getting upset about the data centers. They pollute a lot and use a lot of energy and will eventually be very ugly/huge vacant buildings. And I understand being mad about that. Until you consider the state of the lazer tag industry at this moment, and how much help that sector needs.

I feel like the only place the instructor went a little off is the "demonic" being "offensive" to minorities.

That isn't really relevant to the grading IMO.

Students should feel free to write "offensive" material in college without fear of being punished for it.
idk not to mention how very nuanced and normal the actual response here was
