I don't know what to call it, but there is a very common and annoying social media phenomenon where people demand validation for mildly antisocial behaviour, instead of just feeling mildly guilty about it like a normal person.
These are pretty naked -- and therefore instructive -- examples of the sorts of defenses that people offer to try and get off the hook

I think it’s more that they were just shitty status goods rather than scorn. You can scorn BMW drivers all you want but the cars will still be good and people will buy them. NFTs were just certificates. They’re like paying a lot to say you own a star.

i think tech and ai positive people are going to be in for a big shock when anti tech and anti ai sentiment becomes a major part of leftwing politics going forward especially as datacenters continue to destroy communities and raise electricity bills
