it's important to remember the people doing this aren't "just following orders," they signed up to do this, they're excited to do it, it's what they want to be doing, and each one of them is personally culpable for the entirety of ICE's conduct
In video provided exclusively to MSNBC's The Weekend: Primetime, immigration agents are seen attempting to pull a man out a window of a Chicago home. Agents also jumped a fence into the locked backyard and manhandled people doing work. Hear from the homeowner tonight on The Weekend: Primetime.

Yes, the fact that so many people are closing ranks around a guy with a Nazi tattoo is in fact preoccupying me. Not sure why, must just be my (((neuroses))).

The post from the Reagan Foundation is just complete gibberish.

The ad did not, in fact, misrepresent Reagan's views. But the idea that anyone needs the Reagan Foundation's goddamn permission to use the publicly broadcast official remarks of a former president and/or edit them for brevity is crazy

Itโ€™s so weird when people do the blood and soil thing about New York City, a place that more than just about anywhere else on earth was forged from a constant churn of newcomers

The incident is marks the third straight day that federal agents have deployed tear gas against Chicagoans and the seventh time in 22 days.

As a reminder, when Biden announced student loan forgivenessโ€”based upon a statute passed by Congress which explicitly said the President could do exactly thatโ€”Douthat called it "semi-Caesarist" because it was done "without consulting Congress."

i really resent the continued assertion that thereโ€™s so much anger on both sides, as if the causes of the anger are equally legitimate. weโ€™re angry because masked maniacs are violently snatching our family and neighbors off the street, and theyโ€™re angry because weโ€™re calling them out for it.

But then a left populist, Graham Platner, threatened to win in Maine, so they went right back to trying to cancel someone over old internet posts.

Winning the Georgia Public Service Commission races would be a very important shot in the arm ahead of next year; with perhaps the top Senate race in America and an open gubernatorial seat that is Demsโ€™ most realistic chance to break the Republican hold on state power, GA will be a top battleground
As of right now, with 10 days to go, the 10 biggest blue counties represent 48.3% of the votes cast in Georgia.

(Last year at this time, it was 44.8%. Final share was 44.6%.)

Black voters make up 31.9% of the votes cast so far. (One year ago at this time, it was 25.2%)

the degree to which people nominally affiliated with the democratic party have decided that embracing misogyny is Good Politics probably shouldn't have surprised me, but it still has
i think i would honestly find this whole discourse more tolerable if people simply said what they were actually saying, which is that they think the Democratic Party is too associated with femininity (and secondarily, with black people) and that they want to correct this

An update to this: The Atlanta region continues to outvote the rest of the state โ€” though a bit less drastically so than 6 days ago.

Likely partly has to do with the fact that there are municipal elections in Atlanta.

Where we're at more specifically in the next post.
Early voting numbers in Georgia so far suggest that blue counties are significantly out-voting red counties โ€”ย not even necessarily because of enthusiasm, but because there's more on the ballot in the Atlanta region.

At stake? Dems' first statewide victories in a non-federal race in decades:
As Georgia Returns to Electing Its Utility Commission, Worries over Democracy Linger - Bolts
A pair of races are crystallizing issues with fair representation in Georgia: officials who stay in their seats years past their term, low-turnout runoffs, and the diluted power of Black voters.

A big milestone today: Early voting has started in New York City.

And the 3 candidates are still in the race โ€” and today is when it REALLY starts mattering as people lock-in their votes.

Even if Sliwa were to change his mind in a few, thatโ€™s thousands of ballot going his way starting today.
