I find the implied cyclical or eternal-recurrence narrative of the Zelda games one of the most interesting things about them, all the more so because it probably is not actually a conscious narrative decision by the makers so much as a byproduct of the way they tell the stories they want to.
A comic parody of The Legend of Zelda. In the first panel, a knight addresses Princess Zelda, saying, “Your majesty…” while gesturing toward Link, who stands nearby. In the next panels, the knight says, “This nonverbal twink with a sword says he’ll die for you,” while Link points to himself and adds, “Also he loves to play dress-up.” Zelda, looking serious, responds, “I’m going to lock us in an endless cycle of reincarnation so we can be together in every lifetime.” The comic is credited to Adam Tots (@adamtots) with the tweet handle @garlicblog.

I used AI to make a video that sucks. It is bad. It is boring. But I made it in under an hour. And now it is my entire personality. To some, my AI-...

We have built a society in which people of different skin tones, religious backgrounds & cultures get along, share power, work alongside each other, procreate with each other, recognise the each other’s humanity and democratic rights. It is a STUNNING ACHIEVEMENT OF WORLD HISTORIC PROPORTIONS.

I know statistics are poorly understood and are misused. But facts matter

Between the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census *every* ethnic group in the UK has become *less* geographically segregated and *all* groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them

Everyone I know who did an apprenticeship is now, e.g., a glazier or a painter-decorator. These are fine professions and, speaking as a totally impractical person, ones I am glad exist. Is Britain's main problem that we don't... have enough glaziers?
frankpodmore.bsky.social
Apprenticeships! In... something! But not in any of our successful industries, that'd be unBritish!
frankpodmore.bsky.social
Boosting this one because the Leader of the Opposition in a country with highly successful and profitable HE and culture industries thinks we should do less of that and more ???????????

Has to be said that large numbers of the establishment/elite in the UK have been radicalised to the point where they are living in an alternate universe
flyingrodent.bsky.social
Have a think about what this actually means, and what this government appears to believe “subversion” is.

Hall says: "If I were a foreign intelligence officer, of course I would ensure that the UK hated itself and its history. That the very definition of woman should be put into question, and that masculinity would be presented as toxic. That white people should be ashamed and non-white people aggrieved. I would promote antisemitism within politics.
"My intention would be to cause both immediate and long-term damage to the national security of the UK by exploiting the freedom and openness of the UK by providing funds, exploiting social media, and entryism"

There's a certain social liberalism which at times is expressed as a clear anti-racist narrative (explicitly in Jingo!). But the Patrician is still an *actual* patrician, a member of a hereditary aristocracy. Then there's King Verence and the Low King of the Dwarfs

Huge fan of GK Chesterton, often mocked leftie activist types, depicted various benevolent dictatorships as good models of governance... Yeah, I don't get *overwhelming* leftist vibes from Discworld

I think that he's like Boris Johnson, in that there's no way he *actually wants* the *actual job* of being PM. He's just had too many people tell him he'd be a good PM and lacks the reflective capacity to go, 'Hang on, no I wouldn't'

Must be some of this. Just one anecdotal example, but the only guy I know my age who was an actual member of the Conservative party (and in fact worked for a Tory MP during the Coalition) is now a Lib Dem
