If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

Feeling this one pretty hard. Today's shower thoughts solved a problem I'll need to work on tomorrow. I'm not at work today. And I feel guilty when I step afk on the clock but sometimes that's the most productive thing I can do.
Trying to measure coding productivity is, and always will be, a fool's errand.

Why? Because I can go for a walk then take a shower and have an idea, then write a single line of code that fixes everything I was working on.

Immense productivity, but by most metrics I didn't do anything at all.

I don't think people appreciate exactly how hard this is. Listen to a song you've never heard, without drums, and add a drum part. Ok, fine. Now do it with a song that's allergic to time signatures. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaC7...

I won't lie - I think this is rad as hell and I kinda want to jump in a game with the folks putting it together.

Concord was not a, uh... good... development process... but the game and the team deserved better than how Sony treated 'em. It was fun, and there was so much potential, but alas...

Excellent thread.
We don’t use generative AI at Strange Scaffold and I can confirm that a *lot* of other studios are not—whether indie or AAA.

Get outta here with this normalization bullshit.

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

Any system that makes things happen some of the time by RNG is inherently inferior to a system that approximates the same behavior by doing literally anything else. Fight me.

FFS. Heads up if you have a Ring.
Please turn off your #Ring cameras so that kids/families just trying to participate in #Halloween don't get caught up by ICE. Ring has partnered with them, so we know how this is going to turn out.

Also, please consider removing Ring entirely or AT LEAST turn on the e2e encryption.

okay, update: i have had this question answered, and I am now looking to speak to game QA testers ON the record about the weirdest, silliest-sounding things they've had to do to make sure games work. the wackier the better. happy to keep folks anon if they prefer. DMs open, email/Signal in bio
would anyone who works in or adjacent to game testing/QA be willing to answer a couple questions for me? off the record, not to be quoted - just need some background info on automations to know whether a scenario someone described in a talk is common or unusual.

Remember as a kid, if you got sick on the weekend you felt kinda cheated because you had to be sick, but you didn't even get to skip school? Well, I'm an adult now and being sick on the weekend is what it is. But I swear if I'm sick on Halloween, I'm not sure I'll hold onto my maturity.

This is that game I will not shut up about. The coolest thing anyone has ever made. And yeah, I now work at the studio that made it, but YOU get to play for half price, so who's really winning?
Now through November 3, The Blackout Club is 50% off as a part of the Steam Scream Fest IV.
