I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.

I don't know if there's such a thing as a "world cyberwar" but I think we are in one? and the US is determined to lose it. 🧵

Today the admin is mass-firing the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the nation's cybersecurity protection across all levels of government.

Lots of videos of red painted steel structural columns and beams generally to the east, blown away from the building concrete pad area. The ones from right at the explosion location probably thrown beyond immediate scene in the video. Far end of building they stayed at core site.

Closeup of the loading dock just above the explosion point I believe. Dirt displaced from loading dock berm behind concrete wall that’s still standing, and out to the southwest and west. Yellow cratering red sprayed dirt. Same Newschannel5 Nashville raw helicopter video.
Raw still closeup of explosion crater area. Newschannel5 helicopter video. Marked up still showing craters and sprayed dirt. Newschannel5 video.

Crater areas in yellow and projected dirt in red.

Previous and these helicopter video stills from Newschannel5 in Nashville.

One or two craters destroyed concrete pad and dirt visible underneath and sprayed out away from them, at southwest corner and the lower loading dock.

Southwest corner of building, up to possibly the north side of the the exterior loading area at grade level on the southwest corner.

Basically, situation unclear, waiting for more information. It’s clearly devastating, one corner of the building slab was blown away and the steel beams & columns thrown a hundred meters or more away, even at the other end of the building. But the whole slab wasn’t vaporized. We have a location.

RDX and HMX aren’t insensitive by any means but aren’t primary explosives. PETN is but wasn’t much of the product line. If this was a material mixing or use form production site it would take more accidental input energy for a detonation.
georgewherbert.bsky.social
It’s unclear what functions that building had, but if it’s a nitration facility then usually you wouldn’t have a lot of machines close together and lots of people in close proximity. Not seeing internal berming or subdivisions in the debris, just one large floor area.
georgewherbert.bsky.social
The buildings are generally now wire centers or internet exchange points. The long lines specific radio hardware is harmless and expensive to remove unless you’re demolishing the building…
georgewherbert.bsky.social
If that’s where they make C-4 from bulk powder RDX and the inert plasticizers etc then that’s low risk. Cast melt warheads low risk. If it’s a process facility nitrating feedstock into PETN, HMX, RDX, or TNT that’s a different story. I have no idea from building layout or post explosion debris.
georgewherbert.bsky.social
Information about the specific materials and processing in that building would give us accident risks information. Some of their products are very unlikely to accidentally explode, some are more likely. I don’t know yet what we’re looking at there.

The conceptual ungrouping of attacks on US and core NATO ally facilities isn’t sensible. US soil would be an escalation of sorts but NATO article 5 has no distinction.

There is no specific evidence I am aware of that this was anything but an accident. But can’t blindly ignore the recent trend.

Three key points:
1) The admin has been planning mass firings to begin in October since February
2) The work necessary to carry out mass firings is illegal during a shutdown, violating the Antideficiency Act, which carries a criminal penalty
3) This harms America, ridding us of talent and expertise

US and NATO. A couple were nearby the Ukrainian border and directly supporting them and should probably be in an intermediate category, but attempts and damage across everyone recently.

Breaking: MIT just became the first university to reject an agreement that would trade support for the Trump admin's higher education agenda in exchange for favorable treatment.

This would be approximately the tenth sabotage incident either successful or foiled in 2025. It is not at all unlikely.

That is not to say it was, but there have been several times more sabotage and attempts than actual accidents this year.
