BREAKING: I'm starting up a new line of games that I'll be putting out on @thegamecrafter.bsky.social. Some will be reprints of older Formal Ferret Games, some of these will be expansions to existing games, and some are going to be brand new.

Of course, I'm calling it Informal Ferret Games.

My birthday is on Thursday! To celebrate, I'm choosing that day to officially make Bad Medicine available on @thegamecrafter.bsky.social, as the first Informal Ferret Games release.

I'll also have one other nongaming surprise to show you all!

I read a comment by a publisher defending the theme of manifest destiny as this board game is a great tool for discussion. Here are my issues with that... (thread👇)

I gotta say, I usually dislike NFL announcers, but I'm finding myself switching on Nantz-Romo's commentary more than I expected. They're actually quite good, much better than other announcing pairs.

Very well said. And of course, this is a complete reversal of how legacy journalists used to approach their job.

As the saying goes, instead of comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable, these days they're more inclined to comfort the comfortable and afflict the afflicted.
There is no attitude for which legacy journalists are more often rewarded by their bosses than "Everybody needs to calm down." It is a preening announcement that you are the adult in the room, immune from emotion or overreaction or "hysteria." And it is the worst imaginable priority for this era. >

"One side murdered a woman in broad daylight. The other has condemned that murder. Both sides are culpable. I have the moral awareness of a scrambled egg."
In case there’s any doubt about what TCW means here, his subsequent retweet of David French makes it clear

I can't emphasize enough how much better a sports broadcast is without most announcers. Hearing the crowd go several levels beyond berzerk is so much better when there isn't a bored-sounding Al Michaels droning in a flat voice, "and... he's in... touchdown" 5 seconds after it happens.
Big-time nerd alert - I just figured out a way to watch sports broadcasts without hearing the announcers! It takes some audio geekery and involved tools, but it's like a ZILLION times better to watch football (or any other sport) this way.

Help us identify @finjareloaded.bsky.social's literary crush!
Ha! Let's see... it was a British crime novel, and he was the son or nephew of someone. He gambled with US dollars, but cheated other players by glueing dollars of different values together (yes, I always liked men with impeccable moral character) and then was kidnapped or disappeared, and there

There are no rules, they don’t actually care about respect, decorum, bipartisanship or debate, and only pretend to do so to browbeat you into submission. Nothing is going to change until more people realise that and respond accordingly; including to the media and politicians who have failed them.

Good quote ziggurat here
The trains in Italy never ran on time during Mussolini's rule. That was pure propaganda people just accepted as fact and I have no idea why.
THIS. It's one of fascism's own myths about itself: that it is coherent, efficient, etc. No. History shows us that fascist regimes are contradictory, chaotic, etc. Fascism is not a coherent ideology but a ragbag of scraps held together with aesthetics. Fascist governments are gangs of cranks.

The D next to Schumer’s name stands for “Diet Republican”
This photo of @schumer.senate.gov joking around with Marco Rubio makes me sick to my stomach. Rubio and the rest of Trump's lawless, venal, evil gang are destroying America and Americans. There is nothing to smile about with these people. Schumer is so unfit for this moment. Just fucking go.

“Acquire”. The US will “acquire” Greenland, not invade and annex it. And it did not kidnap Maduro. It “captured” or “siezed” him. The language of news reporting is something we all need to watch so carefully at the moment, and call it out when it peddles mendacious euphemisms.
"acquire?" wtf is this garbage headline?
