Genuinely one of the greatest derelictions of core duty by western governments of our time - not pushing for the provision of adequate ventilation and/or HEPA filters in most public buildings and settings to curb spread of all airborne pathogens
My hotel in Hong Kong, where people understand airborne transmission of respiratory viruses, has HEPA filters everywhere

I love this idea. My dad died when I was three and I had to figure out simple things like how to tie a tie and even shave on my own. Please retweet this because I know there are a lot of kids out there who could use some help with day to day life.

Valid question. One would like to get a bit more celebration of that improbable success story called EU unity during the Ukraine war. All too often commentary goes from 'surely this thing will sink the EU' straight to 'okay, so the EU survived this thing really well BUT surely, now it will sink?'
My Charlemagne column this week on the unintended consequences of peace (one day, hopefully soon!) in Ukraine. War on its doorstep brought the EU together. Can this hard-won unity endure after the fighting ends?
If the fighting ends in Ukraine, the infighting in Europe will begin
Beware Europe’s great de-galvanisation

This can be seen as a metaphor for violence or harm done out of prejudice towards ‘the other’ who is seen (wrongly) as evoking fear because they appear threatening, because they are different

Note the use of ‘she’ in the final lines & the short lines that slow the poem down

Nigel Farage has spent £1m taking out adverts in the papers to distract from the Nathan Gill Russian bribe scandal.

We can't let him buy himself out of this. We need an investigation into Russian influence in our politics.

If the UK military still wants to sustain an influential role then it has to focus on integration with EU partners in a centre of gravity around European territorial and naval defence and abandon wider aspirations that UK society as a whole no longer shares

I am glad to see I'm not the only one. "You can't just point at things and tax them" I recall her saying. Actually being able to point at the things you tax is a good way to make sure you're taxing them accurately is my take but hey ho

My best guess regarding the Ukraine/Russia negotiations is that both sides fully realize there is simply no overlap in the Venn Diagram of what each could accept in terms of conditions and assurances.

None.

However neither can afford to alienate the US by not engaging in the pantomime of looking.
