That’s because they don’t think of their political enemies as “the country.” When they think of the country they love, they think of people who believe and look like them only. They don’t consider us Americans, we’re usurpers. Another good reason U.S. patriotism can’t be reclaimed.

There are people who aren't going to like to hear this, but if a somewhat charismatic DSA guy can casually talk to one of the worst human beings on earth about their beliefs and why they're important in a normal way, we can talk to median voters that way too! They are not going to educate themselves
