I think the news is a bit too rancid for my mental health atm -- gonna take a break! (Maybe this will last for one hour or the rest of the month? But I'm going to keep updating at my Substack regardless: dirtbagchristian.substack.com)

I don't mind if you're a sex weirdo. People think I'm a sex weirdo. (And maybe I am.) But thou who desires freedom of speech and expression and a lack of censorship for those realms should allow it also for the return of gentle feedback, so sayeth the Lord.

been getting obsessed with early English monarchs and their many scandals
u heard sharon, everyone post about their esoteric interests right fucking now. for the good of the community, we need to be hyperfixationmaxxing.
i think this site really needs to figure out how to grow the non-politics verticals (the baseball moment was a good thing!) because i suspect a lot of the bad clusters come out of the political clusters driving 95% of ENG-lang posts

Scott Adams announcing his upcoming conversion to Christianity and mentioning Pascal's wager but nothing about forgiveness, or love, or changing anything is kind of emblematic of the last decade of high-profile "conversions".

When I rewatched When Harry Met Sally on NYE, I was reminded of the scene where they sing “Surrey with the Fringe on the Top.” And I thought man, I wish they had regular Broadway karaoke nights. Yes, I know most karaoke machines have Broadway offerings. But I want ONLY musical songs available

You don’t have to want kids or even enjoy being around them. But it’s also worth unpacking why kids simply existing, learning, or having unmet needs reads as “annoying,” “unlikeable,” or “bad behavior.”

This collective discomfort with noise, need, & vulnerability is why many ADULTS are struggling.

*guys who won’t do anything other than concerned tweeting toward a president doing gestapo kidnappings* “Speaking out against an illegal war move that a majority of Americans don’t approve of is nothing but weakness”
Some Democrats hate that their party is largely positioning itself in opposition to the operation that resulted in Maduro's capture.

"Everything Trump touches must be bad according to the base," one House Dem told @axios.com

Said another: "It looks weak." www.axios.com/2026/01/04/m...

Will Stencil wrong again. American interventionism since the end of WW2 has been a rolling set of disasters, enacted upon sovereign nations with bipartisan support, causing the death and displacement of tens of millions of people. They just didn't do the key jingling part for pundits this time.
I think the most straightforward framing that captures the severity of the situation is that the government of the United States has been seized by a mad authoritarian regime not meaningfully distinct from Putin or Kim or, well, Maduro, and its members must be brought to harsh justice

It is worse than that: many Americans do not believe they should suffer for politics to occur. So when the shutdowns started causing pain, this pain was sufficient excuse to abandon politics. We are fighting against fascists who weaponize pain as a party that will avoid pain at all costs.
The Democrats helped shut down the government and showed you can exercise some real power in the minority. Then they gave it away for nothing rather than extracting concessions.

Americans who demand nothing of their elected leaders are some of the most pathetic people in the country.

"Maduro is a brutal authoritarian dictator," I wisely intone, as the corrupt demented paedophile US President violating Constitutional Law while operating a gestapo and concentration camps illegally arrests a foreign leader on charges which read like they were written on a paper placemat in crayon.

The position of the US is that it can kidnap the president of a foreign country and try him in a US court for alleged crimes which were not carried out under US jurisdiction but the US president cannot be tried in a US court for alleged crimes which were carried out under US jurisdiction.
