Just a friendly reminder that Channel 7's Sunrise helped resurrect Pauline Hanson's career. In 2016, Hanson was paid to appear on Sunrise at least 16 times. She then successfully re-entered politics in the federal election that year, resurrecting the One Nation party. Thanks Kochie and Sam!

A warm day today! Watering the garden before work, then talking about the garden after work at the Merri-bek Gardens For Wildlife session!

This is my assessment of a Hungry Jacks in Glenroy:
❌ HJs is on the BDS list
❌ a drivethru across a bi-directional bike path
❌ a single story building 250m from a Zone 1 train station

I very much want this section of pedestrian path built. I would love #merribek council to go onto this.

Listening to people on the train complain about the Ascot Vale reception backhole. As valid as ever - doesn't matter on your carrier, and yes even when you're above ground, it's simply not good enough @ptua.org.au

It’d be great if Australia had some of these guidelines in place
It’s also because bloated American SUVs/pickups often flunk European safety rules that protect pedestrians.
This is completely wrong. I've lived in Europe. They don't want our cars because:

1. Too big for roads and parking spaces

2. Too fuel inefficient in countries where gas is $6/gallon

3. Considered low quality for the cost

Charging for or allocating rights to scarce public space is one of core policy tools available to local councils to manage congestion. That so many of Melbourne’s councils refuse to charge for parking shows an abject lack of respect for the public they serve.

Anybody claiming #Melbourne CBD is dead doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Commuting has changed but it’s busier than ever on weekends. What hasn’t changed is the public transport timetables, despite huge demand.

What does Mum *really* want for Mother's Day? Maybe it’s a place in one of Council's Bike Maintenance Workshops with Bike it Better? And if Mum doesn’t want to do the workshop maybe she wants YOU to do it and pledge a year’s free maintenance? www.eventbrite.com.au/cc/bike-main...?

Should Australia really be buying submarines from these people?

I very much want to see what the triangle looks like for this election
May 3, 2025 at 9:55 PM
My take on the election that no one asked for is that due to Trump Australians are afraid of change of any sort for the moment. Even if the status quo is bad, there’s a fear that the alternative could be worse. I mean, look at what happened to the US!

Since the supermarkets are closed, why not while away the hours* by emailing your candidates about refugees?

*this only takes 2 minutes

This is one thing that has improved in Australia over the last 20 years. We’ve moved away from using accident and to using crash.

Mostly because car crash investigators will tell you that in 99% of cases someone is at fault
I've seen it too often lately...

It's not an "accident". It's a crash.
A baby spilling juice is an accident.

Nearly all crashes can be prevented by calming speed and paying full attention.

Language matters. Call it what it is.

📢 From 11:59pm tonight, all public transport services will operate on an extremely limited public holiday timetable. 🚌🚋

We understand this is inconvenient. Thank you for your patience as we continue to ignore the way people actually travel on weekends and public holidays.
