“Concentration of media” was pretty much invented by Doctor Who fandom.

Chimpanzee lady making me cry at my desk on a Sunday morning was not on my to-do list, but here we are.

Thank you, Doctor Goodall. ❤️

Dr. Jane Goodall filmed an interview with Netflix in March 2025 that she understood would only be released after her death.

This article manages to name her husband before it names… her.
Article reads:
Woman named as Archbishop of Canterbury in historic first

The 63-year-old archbishop-designate is married to Eamonn Mullally, with whom she has two children. Originally from Woking in Surrey, she was the UK's chief nursing officer from 1999 to 2004.

I didn’t buy The Anatomy Lesson but eventually my town got a comics shop and I got the Demon story and worked back… all because that “clearing the decks” issue no one regards as much was to my mind, a brilliant comic. I loved your breakdown of how it came together and how miraculous that was!

I remember reading this on your blog nearly 20 years ago and loving it. For my 14th birthday my Aunt gave me a bunch of comics including this one. All I knew about Swamp Thing was the paperback reprint of Wein/Wrightson stories when the movie came out. But I was blown away by Loose Ends.

And this is Batman's Aff His Nut by Robert Florence, which, in my opinion, is easily the greatest Scottish poem ever written about Batman...
Batman’s aff his nut
Have you seen the way he cuts aboot
Dressed up as a mad fuckin bat
Batterin guys
I was lit at:
“Mate, I’m worried aboot ye
I know your ma and da died
But everybody’s ma and da dies
And we’re no aw runnin aboot
Hookin muggers and
Kickin psychopaths in the baws.”
And that was when Batman went
“Aye, but do ye ever feel like it?
Do you ever look at the world and feel like it?
Like having a big mad base under your hoose?
Do you ever feel like drivin a big mad motor
that turns intae a tank?
And leatherin fuck oot of guys aw night?
Scarin the fuckin shite oot of them?”
And that’s when I was lit at:
“Aye. Fuck it. Ah dae.”
And that’s the Secret Origin of Robin
And everyone else.

I think the only Downton I've ever seen were the other two films which I took my Dad to see (he's a fan). I just did it for my Dad. I have little recollection of it beyond admiring the costumes and Michele Dockery.

The Warner Bros YouTube channel posted this today, so kudos to them: the entire one shot from All The President’s Men of Robert Redford on the phone investigating Dahlberg. Screws up the last line, stays in character and recovers. Brilliant. https://youtu.be/UmLNzZsEgA4?si=AY8-0wJOdBGsxN7T&t=196

I have found it great when I give it a single sentence (no more than 2-3) and tell it to simplify it. I would never give it a whole document— it doesn’t have the memory or the sophistication and you have to correct even more. But individual sentences are perfect.

@riverwardriley.bsky.social I've been biking to work downtown this summer. Today I took transit in.
- New bus routes are so infrequent it was faster to make a 30 minute walk to South Keys
- The line 1 and 2 trains are packed
- Bayview station had no escalators or elevators
Is there any help coming?

Oof. Rolling Stone dot com about to find out how many people were mostly subscribing for Alan Sepinwall.
petersagal.bsky.social
I know nothing about Rolling Stone and its management, but Alan Sepinwall is the smartest, hardest working TV critic working today. His work has elevated the medium. I don't watch a show without checking to see what he thought of it, before or after.

Rolling Stone fired Alan Sepinwall, Status’ Oliver Darcy reports. That’s probably the end of my subscription.

Got fired from my job for saying that Samantha on Bewitched didn’t really wiggle her nose, she was just kind of twitching her mouth back and forth.

I like when you register for a website and then it takes you to a login page instead of just signing you in. That’s right, good point, I might not have wanted to log in right now. Maybe I signed up today so I could log in sometime, some other day.

There’s a parallel universe where Men of a Certain Age won Emmys for Andre Braugher and Scott Bakula and everyone suddenly realized Ray Romano is a fantastic dramatic actor. And it lasted at least four seasons.

Everyone has a 1-2 season TV show they sorely miss and not enough people knew about that you are always praising the heavens about.

What's yours?
