And on that night, Ebenezer Sega, CEO of Sega, was visited by three spirits:
1. The Ghost of Christmas in America, who recommended they make the 32X
2. The Ghost of Christmas Japan, who recommended they make the Sega Saturn
3. The Ghost of Christmas Brazil, who just wanted more Master System

Did you know that Toshiba laptops had a technician password that reads “Toshiba”?

Just unlocked a perfectly working laptop found in the dump, even had its original unwiped hard drive.

Introducing my next documentary project. This is my concept, and my synopsis has had really upbeat feedback from the LucasArts and adventure community people I've shown it to. We'll have more to share in January, but for now please follow @scummdoc.bsky.social and sign up to the waitlist.
Passport to Adventure: The SCUMM Story is a new documentary exploring the games, the creators, and the engine behind Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion, Sam & Max, Loom, and more.

The journey begins early 2026.

I say this with zero irony: if you are even tangentially a part of a retro video game community, it is your civic duty to push back against this company and shun anyone who doesn't. This is fascism tapping gently at the door and as soon as you let it in, it's going to invite its friends.

What originally prompted me to spend months researching how Sega consoles and games were sold in Italy in the 80s/90s was the fact that I kept seeing people adopting "US memories", remembering things that never happened (like Sega vs. Nintendo ads).
That's (also) why preservation is important.

The marketing of Sega in Italy: from arcades to homes, 90s Italy just loved SEGA. And Giochi Preziosi loved them back with many weird ideas.

We're super excited to be returning to the Bagpuss Universe for Yaffle Origins. As mega fans of the Oliver Postbox multiverse, we always dreamed of telling the story of Assistant Professor Yaffle getting his first pair of glasses or whatever. Join us on this barren sphere, in this living death.

Definitely. My dad took me Christmas Eve (!), and we went to 9 different stores. All were sold-out. People were haggling to buy the display unit. Instead, I got one of the few Master Systems left, with the Ninja and F-16 Fighting Falcon. I went home a very happy kid, and the rest is history!
