For what it's worth, the original hack didn't use “some pixel tricks to recolor the resulting image”, we loaded an SVG file with a stylesheet that redefined colours.

The battery in the photo reads 9Ah, not 162Ah or 162,000mAh as written in the article. Even a higher capacity model would be 16Ah, not 10 times that. We’re pretty far from weeks of runtime. More like days.
