Here's how the rule of law works, when it comes to presidents who abuse power and violate the constitution.

South Korea's ex-president Yoon Suk Yeol already faces criminal charges of insurrection, in connection with his failed martial law decree last year.

"We are immigrants, Black people, Brown people, Asian people, biracial people... all our sweat, effort, and sacrifices made America great. We are a net positive to the economy, commit fewer crimes than native born Americans, and pay our taxes. Literally, we do the exact opposite of Donald Trump."
"Dear Hatemongers, We Aren't Going Back"

Trump, Stephen Miller, & MAGA have already lost. No matter how hard they try to send people of color "back" to our "third world countries," there are just too many of us. We're here & we're winning.

One major problem at universities in South Korea has been exploitation and human rights abuses by professors of graduate students working as research and teaching assistants. Many schools and faculty have been working to bring about change, but this case at Chonnam National U led to tragedy.
Chonnam grad-student death investigation finds professors abused their power, treated student like personal servant
An internal investigation by Chonnam National University has confirmed that allegations of power abuse by professors — raised after a graduate student’s death in July — were largely true.

It is time to abolish ICE.

It is time for Washington state leaders to step up and figure out how to make our communities safe from these goons.

Note the escalating cruelty by ICE in breaking up families and casting wider nets in arrests. Now it's abducting spouses of US citizens at their interviews for permanent residency status and green cards. Who will they go after next? This isn't immigration enforcement - it's state terror. On the $350 billion Trump has pushed South Korea to invest in the US in exchange for lower tariffs: "With a big stick in one hand and a small stick in the other, he says he’ll only hit us with the small stick if we offer something in return... Mobsters running protection rackets are taking notes."

Interesting to learn South Korean ex-president Yoon showed disdain for APEC and G20 summits and several world leaders attending them, even suggesting the PM take his place at future events. And I had the impression Yoon liked the glitz of diplomacy and threw it all away when he declared martial law!

NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

A peace that is imposed on Ukraine, that gives Ukraine nothing of what it has been fighting for, is not a just or negotiated peace. Just a surrender to Russia, and loss for global democracy.
Latest piece out in @theatlantic.com . Trump's "peace" plan for Ukraine, which he at this very moment trying to force on the country with threats and intimidation, is grotesque. The US president is admitting what too many refused to admit, he wants Putin to win. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

Reminds me of how Trump acted at his summits with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Trump knows a TV ratings success when he sees one, plus he and Mamdani - despite all their differences - share common ground as political insurgents who challenged the leadership of their parties and won.
I think this clip is the key to understanding why Trump acted the way he did with Mamdani. His world revolves around TV ratings.
