Bone Temple was not only great, but it somehow improved the parts of 28 Years Later that I had a beef with. Rare to see a sequel that improves the predecessor like that. Go see it!

Was pretty keen to try Gears Tactics on the Legion Go as a successor for my Xcom addiction but it turns out it needs to login on launch which means you can't play it on flights. Really thought Xbox Offline Mode would've solved that, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Not sure who could use this info but it turns out that Intel Connectivity Performance Suite was lowering my laptop internet speeds by 95% due to "Prioritization" being enabled and.. bad, I guess.

Playing Mortal Kombat 1 and... the story mode is kind of incredible? They really just made a movie where you hang out and then play the fights every now and then as a treat. Acting and facial animation are great, effects are great.. they just.. kinda knocked it out of the park.

Valve has now rejected my complaint, confirming that "I don't like muslims" is a valid reason to leave a negative review on a game on Steam

This is where we're at now.

Can't help but wonder how good my Grandma would have been at visualising UV maps, given they're basically just sewing patterns.

Crazy. I’m tinkering with a small screen for VR featuring octopods. And while trying to push the interactivity they became fully physicalized using Physics Control in @unrealengine.bsky.social
Now I exchanged their movement also with forces and the result feels very believable.

Did you know that Yarn Spinner tests and deploys all our software on some old PCs a friend found in a dumpster? 🗑️🔥

We entered a competition to win $5000 to buy better gear, so we can test and deploy to more storefronts and platforms. Now we need YOUR VOTE 🫵 Help us out? 💚 woobox.com/fw8p3z/galle...

Finally got around to trying Star Wars Outlaws and it's great! It's a really solid stealth game where I can be a scruffy-looking-nerfherder and get up to shenanigans across the galaxy. I'd heard weird stuff when it launched but I'm really glad I'm giving it a try! Team did a wonderful job.

If you're testing a multiplayer game, Unreal has a great "Allow late joining" experimental feature under Editor Preferences. It adds an "Add another client" button that is shown when you run the game.

I lived off a partner for years - essentially - while working on Unfortunate Spacemen. It makes getting up in front of a crowd and talking about "my journey to success" feel priviledged and fake.

But it's common and there is often no other option. Support structures matter, make sure you have one.
Many full time creatives have “invisible safety nets” like bread-winning partners, trust funds, external support, etc. No shame on anyone, but it creates a false vision of success. The cost of going to cons alone on top of hoping to eat as a freelancer are untenable, IMO.
When people hear that I'm returning to part time work they often ask "are things not going well with your art?"

The problem really is things are going well, but the world is so unstable that I long for some consistency and income that I don't have to pay quarterly taxes on

The worst line delivery is not by Gal Gadot. It's by Joe Pantoliano in The Matrix. He puts this random emphasis on the word "for" in "the image translators work FOR the construct". Kills me. Every time. Seat in front of me is watching it, and I can hear IT IN MY BRAIN...

I still love this movie.

Learned that an anonymous outside expert on submersibles did an interview with the OceanGate Titan investigation, and they released a transcript, with all the names redacted. The first line of his first answer? "I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic."

Discovering computer as an adult makes you go crazy. Discovering computer as a baby makes you go crazy. In all of human history, there will only ever be one generation to discover computer at the correct age: 13
The problem with every post-Millennial generation is they got to go straight to high speed internet. Of course you'll get computer madness that way. Make them start with those old screeching modems and work their way up
