Negative polarization is multi-directional and a lot of people have mirrored what is more or less antisemitic sentiment with philosemitic sentiment, aka "Israel would never do X thing that it demonstrably does time again and again because it isn't that stupid". That's just exceptionalism actually.

I feel like the way that Japan’s LDP somehow managed to go from being so weak that it lost its longtime coalition partner to winning a huge governing majority in yesterday’s elections in just a few months is a pretty big story. Kind of frightened by what it all means and what comes next.
