The fact that mainstream media stopped covering ICE kidnappings in LA isn't because ICE stopped kidnapping (they didn't)
Or ICE slowed down (they have actually increased their tempo)
Or that resistance to ICE slowed down (it never stopped, it grew)

This is why all the worst people go after Ethnic Studies. That the study should incite feeling and action is built into the discipline, and it fits uneasily into a system in which performative distance is treated as a virtue.
The idea that the only way to discuss issues that are killing people in real time is through a lens of cool analysis is an indication of just how far apart the people having the debate and the people being affected are meant to be
