Pierre PoiLIEvre is a D!€k: Part 120

By “the left” he means “Liberals” right? The majority of Canadians based on the last Federal election results, which by the way he LOST BIGLY.

He’s unqualified, a proven liar and a walking national security risk. If he loves the US so much, just f*€king leave.

It is long, long past time to ditch the first-past-the-post system.

Newfoundland and Labrador’s election shows the problem again. A party can win a majority of seats without majority support.

Proportional representation would make every vote count equally and ensure real majority rule.
Two pie charts compare votes and seats in Newfoundland and Labrador’s election. The left chart shows the popular vote: PCs 44.5%, Liberals 43.7%, NDP 8.4%, Independents 3.9%. The right chart shows seat share: PCs 52.5%, Liberals 37.5%, NDP 5%, Independents 5%. The graphic highlights how first past the post gave the PCs a majority of seats despite not having majority voter support, with a message calling for proportional representation.

Pierre Poilievre lecturing Canadians about “merit” is peak irony from a man whose whole career has been political patronage.

CBC cuts through the spin so Canadians can see the difference between slogans and substance.

Montreal out of the postseason and avoiding three non-US World Series winners in a row. The intervening years have not been kind.
ianhutchings.bsky.social
MLB has also made it abundantly clear over many years that they have zero intention of letting a non-US team anywhere near the World Series if they can do anything about it. Jays always have two opponents - the other team, and the umpires. Prolonging the '94 strike was the perfect way to keep ...

Doug Eddings, Joe West, C.B. Bucknor, Angel Hernandez.. we only know these names because they're *TERRIBLE* umpires protected by their organization. Umpires are the best tool MLB has to control outcomes to fit the script for favoured teams (Dodgers, Yankees, etc). Every other team pays the price.

Doug Eddings is a terrible umpire. I have no idea why MLB would have him in the postseason.

If it was legal to bake cakes and legal to sell cakes but it was illegal to advertise cakes and illegal to buy cakes, do you think cake bakers will have a better or safer work-life? Do you think the people willing to commit a crime to buy a cake will be a safe customer?

A significant event in Newfoundland history. It is important to remember that we were NOT part of Canada at the time.

We had been a fully independent self-governing dominion on par with Canada or any other, but were under Commission of Government due to post-WWI bankruptcy.

On Oct. 14, 1942, the SS Caribou was transporting 46 crew and 191 civilian and military passengers to Port aux Basques, Newfoundland.
Suddenly, the German submarine U-69 emerged and hit the ship with a torpedo. The sinking killed 137 people.
This is the story.

🧵 1/12
Black and white photo of a ship named "Caribou" docked at a pier, with two men in suits standing on the dock nearby. The ship has a prominent bow and a single smokestack, with ropes securing it to the pier. The scene appears historical, with a railway track running along the dock.
