The news isn’t being clear about this but to people hearing about these Minnesota shootings: Melissa Hortman is the Dem leader in the Minnesota House and was Speaker of the House 2019-2025. She’s probably the most influential state-level Democrat barring the governor.

Pdx folks: there are multiple events happening across the greater Portland area this Saturday, April 5th

A march, a community event, a party - all in the name of fighting back

Listen, I felt *nothing* for so fucking long - I deserve to find joy in anything.

Plants? Look at those fuckers go!
New leaf? Shake that human butt, you didn't kill it!

New pretty flower (or the same flower at a different stage), mmmm SUNLIGHT?!

The power of propaganda - instill fear, create reliance, over take the whole damn thing.

Fear your neighbors - no community
Fear "groups" with racial profiling - become the informant.

See the government as their saving grace and turn a blind eye to the suffering of people "not like them".
A lot of people will intentionally make you feel frightened to gain power.
Rick Caruso sent out an email for a public safety survey, but juiced the results by prefacing it with the statement that people are less safe now. But safety is a perception and a feeling. Caruso and other reactionaries have worked hard to ensure people feel less safe by fanning their fears.

Shameless self-five

I've been making dinner at home almost every night for the last couple of weeks. I'm making healthy-for-me foods (mostly veggies, less carbs) and AND I am bringing leftovers to work.

No one will talk about "Stagflation" right now. It's a bit of a dead giveaway that they KNOW that a repeat of the 1970s is coming; and that's a feature, not a bug.

We're doing almost exactly the same playbook; and of course the first person to benefit from that wave of cuts in the 70s? Trump.

America apparently now doing the Russia-style "secret [ie totally made up] chemical labs in your country justifies the cross-border menacing we were already doing" move.
Kevin Hassett suggests Canadian authorities are covering up major fentanyl operations: "I can tell you that in the situation room I've seen photographs of fentanyl labs in Canada that the law enforcement folks were leaving alone. Canada's got a big drug problem."

“Faculty support has often been the critical factor that amplified student movements and helped them achieve lasting impact. When professors ally with student activists, they transform isolated campus protests into broader democratic movements with institutional backing and intellectual legitimacy.”
A few days ago, I posted about how authoritarian leaders fear student activism. I wrote a new article dives much deeper into this pattern – and why Trump's recent threats are so revealing. It's a global, historical phenomenon. (Short 🧵⬇️)

While I understand their fear, I'd really like them to think on this:

Silence is compliance, compliance is violence.

If we don't stand up, or lead, the downfall of the American Empire - we will take it laying down.

A lot of people are going to die no matter the path we chose...
Politicians, fired federal workers, university presidents and chief executives who would normally speak out against the Trump administration say they are intimidated by online attacks from President Trump and Elon Musk, concerned about their businesses and worried about the safety of their families.

Last night I had a dream, and I actually remember parts of it.

The main part I remember is picking my nose, then PULLING something out...it was a strawberry.

What. The. Fuck.

My brain:
a cartoon strawberry with big eyes and a smile on its face is laughing .
Alt: The background looks like forest floor or foliage, but in a blue, maroon, green color palette. a cartoon strawberry with big eyes, tiny leaf hands, and a smile on its face is laughing, the text "he he he" in white letter is at the bottom.

Me: "this is genuinely scary. They'll have unfettered access. They are going to fire anyone who doesn't fall in line - just like they said they would with journalists.."

People: "They can't really do that. It won't happen that fast. Etc."
