He cannot be clearer. There is no difference to him between bombing random fishermen on boats and shooting Americans protesters in the face
I swear this clip is not edited. Trump pivots from downplaying the killing of Renee Good and Alex Pretti ("two people out of tens of thousands and you get bad publicity") to in the very next breath claiming "we've been very tough on the waters," leaving Tom Llamas baffled ("the waters?")

As terrible as what is happening right now to journalism, we actually should dismantle the romantic myths we have of the press in America.

I teach in my class about colonial press censorship, and then how the independent press was a tool for the wealthy, white power holders to maintain dominance.
This is it.

And the founders also never really envisioned a system like industrial and post-industrial capitalism that would be *fundamentally at odds* with their vision of a democratic republic.

Which is why capitalism must be dismantled.
Our founders, though deeply flawed, understood that democracy requires an informed citizenry and a government accountable to it people. That’s why the press is the only profession protected by the Constitution. It’s also why autocrats and oligarchs seek to control and destroy it.

What do I keep saying? Your power comes from getting real fucking comfortable with being a pain in the ass.
My actual job description is activist and here’s what I tell people in despair all the time: do not underestimate how much harm you can prevent by being just a little bit annoying.
This is one reason I keep trying to remind people of the power that we have. That we have *always* had. Not because I’m in denial, but because I know history. I’m no sophisticated intellectual, but I do know we’re going to win even though the bad shit is really terrible right now.

Dr. Isaac Pope is being called the Larry Nassar of Washington state.

A civil lawsuit alleges he sexually assaulted hundreds of children in state juvenile facilities in the 1980s and 90s. Kids who were supposed to be protected. Kids who had no power. The abuse went on for years.

One lesson from the Epstein–Mandelson affair is that we need to stop routinely rehabilitating political careers after serious scandals.

When politicians knowingly engage in grave ethical wrongdoing, that should permanently end their political careers. Being "talented" should not override that.

DHS said that the woman CBP shot in the chest in Portland was “involved” in a gang shooting.

Her ~involvement~ was that suspected gang members sexually assaulted and robbed her.
After Border Patrol shot two people in Portland, DHS claimed they were "vicious gang members" tied to a past shooting.

But records I obtained reveal a US prosecutor has since directly contradicted DHS, saying, "We're not suggesting he is a gang member." My dive into how DHS' claims have collapsed:

I hadn't realised there was a design for the gargantuan planned 'Arc de Trump' in Washington DC. It's so gaudy! And much bigger than any other triumphal arch in the world (in fact, second only to Hitler's planned Berlin arch), so it will certainly stick out like a sore thumb.

Minnesota’s Chief U.S. District Judge Patrick J. Schiltz ruled, almost immediately, that ICE could not move the two men out of Minnesota. He gave the federal government until Friday to provide an explanation for their actions.
A federal judge ordered the release of two Venezuelan men accused of assaulting a federal immigration officer last month outside a north Minneapolis duplex.

But they never made it outside the St. Paul courthouse. ICE detained them again, without explanation, after the hearing.

My own very niche academic opinion: the expiry of New START won't spark a new arms race in and of itself. But its end is indicative of a deteriorating security environment that will involve some arms racing and more importantly a significantly heightened risk of a major war.
