What is “cringe”?

Honestly it depends who you ask, but it’s used to shame people for something they like or for being themselves. Saying something is cringe is positioned as maturity, being “too cool” and therefore employing bullying tactics to make others edit or reduce themselves into the mainstream or “normal”.

But that’s not what maturity is

Maturity is understanding that “normal” is relative. That sports and music are fandoms too. That bullying is a reflection of one’s own insecurities. Maturity is also understanding that constructing a persona to fit the mainstream is really just a sad waste of your very limited time on this Earth.

So be cringe.

Because life is too short for us to bully each other out of our passions and authentic self-expression.

I suspect it's inflammation somewhere but I need a doctor to order the right tests...and I'm not interested in going back and forth between a walk-in and the ER because I keep refusing the "it's just an anxiety attack" diagnosis lol. I'll make it my PCP's problem in the morning if needed 😅

There’s people who made notable contributions to the arts before they went MAGA but I really can’t think of anyone who did once they embraced that ideology. There’s some sort of link between empathy and creativity, maybe.

I really love playing a game of "Is this a weird boob pain, a heart attack, reflux, COVID, anxiety, or a mystery illness?" while also trying to decide a) which medical facility I should start with given that the pain is mild but persistent, and b) which symptom will be The One to prompt an ER visit.
