i remember talking about this issue polarizing on party lines but it seems like the actual divide is going to be elected officials, who are all 9000 years old and were best friends with golda meir, vs voters, who think its not great that israel keeps killing so many kids
It seems the pro-Israel consensus among Democrats is well and truly dead at this point. Dem primary voters prefer candidates who refuse to travel to Israel (by net +45%) and back a bill to end military aid to Israel (by net +61%). www.filesforprogress.org/datasets/202...

Reminder that years ago it was found out that the FBI straight up made up a whole bunch of fake forensic sciences, plural. People have gone to jail and been executed due to literally pseudoscience.

Hair forensics, for instance, is totally nonsense.

They admitted it.

A Colorado forensic scientist faked hundreds of DNA tests over decades.

Literally such as putting the suspect's DNA in both the sample slot and the suspect's slot: voila, it is a match, the odds are astronomical that it'd be a false match.

3,000 cases at least, she fucked with.

It's a little irritating that a fascist can just decide to go 'i don't like this other fascist' and a great deal of people respond with 'she just like me fr fr welcome to the tent we keep talking about for some reason.' a fascist hating another fascist doesn't make her antifascist you f-ing goobers

Solar+batteries is just going to win.

Solar is comparatively cheap. It's the easiest for power companies to deploy (~1 year vs. 5-10 years for conventional power plants). It's inexpensive to maintain. It's environmentally beneficial. And it can add value to farms by providing shade.

It's a winner

The thing a lawyer most often contributes to a reading of a contract is not "oh this lawyer knows what SPECIAL LANGUAGE means" but instead "the lawyer is looking at the contract with an eye to how it will go kabloeey."

One of the things I hear a lot is "contracts mean different things than the language in them says and that's why you need a lawyer"

This is generally not true.

Will it be necessary to fight back against this fascist regime? Our strategy is to hope it won’t
You are right, everyone should embrace ignorance. No need for a text book. Look, the regressives motivated an emotional and willfully ignorant base. The decision to fight back at that level is the modern equivalent of crossing the Rubicon. Will it be necessary? Let's hope not.

Programmers have used a rubber duck for this purpose for at least 25 years. And they work without you needing to guide the interaction style”
If you use it as a dialogic thinking space where you externalities thought and use it to hold, reshape, question, extent, perturb your thinking. Just like a good teacher or mentor could, except you need to set and guide the interaction style.

Jasper Nathaniel is an excellent reporter who has lived for a while in the occupied West Bank and he's right on the money here: a lot of people who are naturally predisposed towards the Israeli narrative flip entirely once they actually witness what occupation and apartheid look like with their eyes

Take it from someone who teaches AI ethics at the postgrad level: AI researchers care little about ethics.
(AI, like a rock, does not care, of course) 😜
"We should acknowledge that AI does not care about Ethics, because it is dependent on political authority that can easily shift any ethical responsibility evading legal repercussions."

This is why the field of AI ethics is a scam.

It's truly wild to me that this just keeps happening. Coca-Cola runs an AI ad and people overwhelmingly react with disgust. They do it again, and people are disgusted again. Now McDonald's makes an AI ad that's so bad that so many people are furious about it they pull it down.

People hate AI slop!

this is the simple answer to people who keep saying NATO expansion matters. Sure, it matters because it presented an obstacle to Russian imperial ambitions. Putin didn't invade because he hated NATO expansion, he hated NATO expansion because he wanted to invade

I've started to see arguments that we have to get used to AI Slop coding even if it isn't great, because it's fast. Humans could go faster, too, if they're allowed to turn in stuff that only sometimes works. Such a fascinating double standard that will in no way come back to haunt, naw.
