Yes, it's insane but it's worth noting that the MAGA billionaires own the GOP and Trump regime but the corporate elite also own much of the Democratic party. Which explains why the Dem opposition to the autocrat is rather incapacitated.

China’s emissions really do look like they’ve peaked. China’s CO₂ emissions have been flat or falling for 21 months, with what looks like a 0.3% decline in 2025. Clean power met all electricity-demand growth as solar, wind and nuclear rose, pushing coal generation down 1.9%. -Carbon Brief

And, of note, we Canadians are sandwiched between turmpieland and Russia which is like stepping in dog poop while simultaneously receiving a dollop of bird crap in the eye.

I understand that the oil lobby owns a huge piece of Trump's cabal but I really do wonder why the rest of the billionaires and millionaires don't give a damn about their children or grandchildren's futures. America's spine has disintegrated.

Ask him for his credentials on health and he says "I used to snort cocaine off toilet seats." How does America put up with this?
RFK Jr: I'm not scared of a germ. I used to snort cocaine off of toilet seats.

“I don't see any plan, any strategy, any end game,” says Pat Parenteau, a professor of environmental law at the University of Vermont. “I don't see anything from this administration, just fuck everything up as much as you can. You can print that.”

Sounds accurate to me.
The Fight Over US Climate Rules Is Just Beginning

The protection of super wealthy American men who were involved in one way or another in child sex trafficking is something.
Massie: "She didn't answer anything. She came here ready to talk about the Dow Jones and the Nasdaq, which seems kind of crazy to me."

No, all the wealthy men who are named in the files are expressing honest and heartfelt disappointment and making it clear they were not aware of child sex trafficking. Just having lunch.

The frustrating part is that it need not be this way. Dutch economist Rutger Bregman, in a most joyous moment at Davos, told the assembled billionaires "it's all about taxes, taxes, taxes" and they sneered at him for pointing out the obvious.

For those familiar w/ "ARkStorm/ARk2.0" flood scenarios for California, a comparable event has been unfolding on the Iberian Peninsula. These ridiculous rainfall accumulations, caused by a long series of extremely moist atmospheric rivers, have brought widespread severe flooding to Spain & Portugal.
Grazalema, Spain, received over 2,000 mm (78 inches) of rain in just the last 20 days.

Over a year’s worth of rain — and it’s only early February. This is hydrologically absurd.

Putting on your law cap, Trump says China will "terminate all ice hockey" and I think there's a good case to be made that rec league hockey is NOT ice hockey. I counted the number of completed passes in our last game and there were 2. I rest my case.

there's a good reason for that, namely that albertan separatists are, apparently, regular visitors to the den of authoritarianism.

MAGA is great at killing themselves with popcorn theories on vaccination, abortion, nutrition and general health so I presume they're looking to kill some blue state people.
