Remembering the singular, indefatigable, ardent anti-fascist Martha #Gellhorn (d. 15 Feb 1998).

Her words, many of them written in the 1930s/1940s, apply to this terrible time in 2026.

Top right corner. Can't help but wonder if The Simpsons paid subtle tribute to Dan McQuade in tonight's set-in-Philadelphia 800th episode.

Zohran genuinely loves the people of his city and wants the best for them. It’s astonishing how much we’ve all been starved of that by our leaders.
Everyone in the world comes to get married at the NYC Marriage Bureau. Last week, the Mayor stopped by to officiate a few of those ceremonies.

Thank you to all the couples who shared their joy with us. Happy Valentine's Day, New York.

There’s a theory bears have a sense of aesthetic enjoyment as they’ve been observed stopping to take in a view or a sunset and, for lack of a better term, hanging out
Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon.

Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.

I hope I live long enough for our version of the Nuremberg Trials where all of these felons are prosecuted for their heinous crimes against humanity. Particularly those against children.

And that those victims receive reparations. #EpsteinFiles

It's unforgivable.
A NINE year old is being detained for 113 days and goes through questioning for two hours without an adult, without her mother, present.
Her mother is in News York, undocumented while she herself has a tourist visa.
She says she can't sleep well, worries, and feels guilty if anything happens.
NINE!
Hundreds of children are currently being held with their parents at an immigration detention center in Dilley, Texas. In letters and drawings, eight kids convey the pain of feeling trapped with no end in sight. www.propublica.org/article/ice-...

US Troops killed all the guards at Dachau for this kind of shit.
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.
