I will not support any funding deal that puts money in the hands of Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem, and this violent agency. Defund and abolish ICE now.

small consolation, but there *will* be a market for *new* creative things and styles ever after through the AI era

e.g., cool new things people come up with won’t have existed for the AI’s training data, so for at least a while they won’t be able to copy it — and there will be a market for that

When he predicts 15% growth, people in the room should laugh.

When he claims he’ll reduce drug prices by 1000%, people in the room should laugh.

When an adult says facially ridiculous, literally impossible things, they should be laughed at. Why are you sitting there with a straight face

It reads more like the internal monologue preceding it was: *I wanna say something that will scare them! Socialism? Communism? Radical Left? No — Canadians won’t give a damn about that!! What do they — got it!! HOCKEY.*
He keeps saying China will kill hockey in Canada, & I cannot figure out where the hell he got that batshit idea. (I’m sure it’s from some right-wing online thing that’s been twisted into this nuttery.)
Trump, in the middle of his latest unhinged Truth Social screed, claims that if Canada makes a trade deal with China, "the first thing China will do is terminate ALL Ice Hockey being played in Canada, and permanently eliminate The Stanley Cup."

the US is creating an entire class of people who will understandably *never forgive* what was done to them. And whoever else is still around a couple decades from now may be reminded of that in unfortunate ways
Everyone complicit in this moral horror needs to be prosecuted.
1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧵

Who will win the Super Bowl??? Well let's see what the animal kingdom thinks.

First off, Wilbur the binturong at the Nashville Zoo predicts the Seahawks will win. Makes you think, huh...

I mean, even if you don’t want to be confrontational, a joke — “So…we’ll put you down for, ‘REALLY doesn’t want to talk about the Epstein files’” would SLAY, even in that room
I don’t understand why colleagues stay silent when this happens.
KAITLAN COLLINS: What would say to Epstein survivo---

TRUMP: You are so bad. You are the worst report. No wonder CNN has no ratings. She's a young woman. I don't think I've ever seen you smile. They should be ashamed of you.

see — “was,” you guys. “Was.”
Reminder that "jaywalking" was literally made up by american car manufacturers to shift the blame for accidents from drivers to pedestrians. "Jay" was a slang term meaning "idiot" or "rube".
“Jaywalking is permitted in London. In 1966, the police tried to crack down on it, but gave up after three months.”

People walk and cycle on roads by right, people drive under licence.

Jaywalking is not a thing in English law and Waymo must not change that.

A fundamental problem with this country is that you have less responsibility, transparency, and duty as you gain more power when it should be the opposite. The Supreme Court gets to be very secretive for no good reason. Cops get a monopoly on violence and have near total immunity when they use it.

Fascinating turn I hadn’t heard about before
Some in South Minneapolis have created what they call “filter blockades” on Cedar Ave. A handout says the roundabout like blockade is meant to bring neighbors together to strategize against ICE while also identifying traffic coming into the area.

Reminder to Dems and all decent people: if we elect a US Congress willing to, we can do this kind of thing at the federal level 👇and overwhelm the Supreme Court’s rightwing corruption
The Utah governor just signed a bill to expand his state's supreme court by two seats.

Conservatives have been angry at a series of judicial rulings, including one that safeguarded direct democracy in 2024 & one that struck down their gerrymander. 1st step of their retaliation.
