I’m just gonna say it. Hamnet is a bad title. For dang near anything. (Possible exception: pig volleyball.)

I won’t say it’s a *sufficient* reason…but the fact almost every webpage with a recipe is absolutely drenched in ads, pop-ups and ostentatiously irrelevant content does feel like *a good* one to a lot of folks, I think
This is such a good point. There is no good reason to use chatgpt for recipes, and yet tech cos are basically forcing it on people in order (it seems) swallow food blogging along with news and everything else
This is so funny because recipes can literally already be copied and reposted with no attribution or copyright. All AI does here is add statistical noise and make the stolen content useless. AI can’t even steal content without fucking it up.

I think it may be less that people are afraid to be original and rather that, well, most people *aren’t* original. It’s just that, before social media and online comments, you never *saw any content* from 90% of those people. There was nowhere for them to put it. Now there is.
This has been bothering me a lot lately, but on a broader scope. People are afraid to be original. Critiques are all the same, jokes are copy/pasted, opinions use a handful of buzzwords that don't actually describe anything. It's like drowning in a sea of masks that all wear the same face.
One of the producers on Guilty Gear Strive said it was basically impossible to source player feedback on balance changes online because nobody had original opinions and would just parrot what the most popular content creators said and so they had to rely on data and I think about that every day.

I was hoping they’d use a different football term for each one, and that we’d get “Holiday Turnover, A Browns Love Story.”

Was dismayed to find the Chiefs one was the same as this 😕
I guess this was inevitable after the chiefs one did well, curious what the lineup of teams will be over time
Kicking off the holiday season! 🌟

Don’t miss #HolidayTouchdown: A Bills Love Story, premiering tonight, November 22 at 8/7c on the Hallmark Channel (next day on Hallmark+).

Enten: "This is probably the worst 10 day period for the president in the polls his entire second term. The numbers are just atrocious ... when your best poll has you 14 points underwater, you know it's truly bad and it's as bad as 26 points underwater ... -43 with independents! They despise him."

Before women, the workplace was perfect. It was full of trees. There was no need to labor with your hands. You didn’t have to wear pants, or any form of clothes. Every kind of animal was there.

Hmm I may be thinking of something else women supposedly ruined www.theatlantic.com/newsletters/...
Women Keep Ruining the Workplace!!
Before they arrived, of course, everything was perfect.

“Peace on earth, and no commercials.” — a voice bumper on this I Heart Radio xmas station, which *absolutely* runs commercials.

I guess it’s meant in the same spirit as the “peace on earth” part — as in, we know it’ll never happen, it’s just aspirational? 🙃

@billsimmons.bsky.social the Hawks announcers pronounce the player’s name “Mo Gay.”

That’s not a joke; that’s his name, according to them.

I mean, that soft pedals it. Clearly, he pines for the day when he can do it and get away with it, too.
Covering Jamal Khashoggi's murder was one of the most disturbing things I've worked on. Hearing Trump say he was "extremely controversial" and people "didn't like him" is chilling. Hard to take any other way than he thinks there is moral ambiguity in the murder of a journalist.

Oh, wow. There’s a criminal indictment waiting to happen
The government claims two weeks of surveillance footage from Broadview ICE Detention Center has been "irretrievably destroyed" and won’t be produced as evidence in a lawsuit against the government over abhorrent conditions there:
