LIBERALS: If only we'd elected Hillary Clinton none of this would have happened

HILLARY CLINTON, APPEARING AT AN EVENT SPONSORED BY A RIGHT-WING BILLIONAIRE TRUMP MEGADONOR: People who have sympathy for Palestinians getting genocided are dumb kids duped by communist propaganda
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”

Given his age when he first came to the world’s attention and assuming continued good health in the intervening decade and change, Marine Todd would be in his late 30s today. That would be if he was a...

I’ve been working on some pricing model changes for our app and it’s a nice reminder that you can roll back a DB transaction on an internal error all you want, but that won’t roll back the external request you made to create a bunch of stuff in a third-party service (Stripe in this case).

I have long posited that Daniel Craig's accent in Glass Onion is better than Knives Out because in Knives Out he is trying to do a real Southern accent and is bad at it but in Glass Onion he is just talking like Foghorn Leghorn, which is something a real gay Southern weirdo would do.

I’ve been writing rails code professionally for well over a decade and I can’t even remember the last time I typed `rails new`. There’s a ton of things you’re going to be kicking yourself over years down the road but what defaults you chose will not be one of them.
People love arguing about rails new defaults.
Fine. Enjoy the bike shed. It’s soothing.

But let’s be honest… for most of us, the real job starts after the clone.

That’s when you meet the code someone wrote five, eight, ten years ago.

it's wild to think that about one CEO ago ago, people were looking at Google and Apple as brands they wore in their personal lives as badges of honour and in the space of less time than it takes a cicada to mature the consensus is now that they are the enemy of public safety
it is absolutely the tech companies fault that people now assume they’re doing something evil and sneaky even when they actually aren’t (regarding the latest Google kerfuffle)

like, no kidding that people have zero willingness to cut big tech the benefit of the doubt anymore

I was in university putting up flyers for a film festival when I saw one advertising student web developer jobs in the school’s IT department. The idea was we’d build sites for the other departments instead of them going to external companies who’d charge them triple with no long term support.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?
