This week in 1988: 1,000+ ACT UP demonstrators shut down the FDA headquarters, demanding (and eventually winning) action on developing HIV/AIDS treatments. ACT UP's militant and creative actions always included powerful visual artwork, and paved the way for movements in the decades to come.

i dunno i grew up catholic for me part of the dissonance is reconciling how a kinda evil institution that for me represents stifling conservatism

is on the balance pretty OK next to the folks who don’t believe in climate change or evolution or love to express cruelty as a hobby

i’m not religious myself so i am inclined to agree but within this specific worldview the only way to secure salvation for your eternal soul is to do good works, that’s what god wants you to do

whereas in other christian sects belief in of itself is sufficient, accept jesus in your heart and done

walkable streets and cycling are bad because safe and livable density mean you get to enjoy public goods and are not entirely trapped at the yoke of your social superior. cons love cars cos it means you must labour just to be able to afford to get around in your community and enjoy life

that’s easy, the only valid vision for toronto is what preserves power for the status quo / conservatives and anything that threatens that is invalid and must be punished. the only rule is conservatives act with impunity and you must submit to what they say.
