ICE isn’t making rare mistakes. This is the point.

When an agency can grab people first and sort out rights later, if they bother at all, everyone is at risk. Citizen or not.

Every few weeks we get a story like this and it always fizzle out. Stephen Miller is in control. Let's not pretend otherwise. Even when Brooke Rollins convinced Trump to *publicly* say he'd back off of some raids, it took Miller just 48 hours to browbeat Trump into changing his mind.
Trump is privately worried about the "optics" of ICE raids and his advisers are looking for ways to soften them, Axios reports. I'm calling bullshit: The terror and violence cannot be hived off from the broader policy agenda. They are 100% intrinsic to it.

Trump’s Own Advisers Suddenly Unnerved as ICE Raids Take Horrific Turn
So the president doesn’t like the “optics” of what ICE is doing. But there’s no such thing as sanitized, popular mass deportations—and this is by design.

A mother in Minneapolis rushed to perform CPR on her 6-month-old baby after federal immigration agents deployed a chemical agent near her car, leading all six of her children to be taken to the hospital.

This isn’t the first time kids have been on the receiving end of ICE's chemical weapons.
ICE's tear gas sent a 6-month-old to the hospital, the latest in an alarming pattern
Federal agents' use of chemical weapons has hurt children at immigration raids, while walking down their block, and in their schools.

Remember, the Epstein files are still unreleased, nearly a month after they were legally required to do so. More outright criminality from this regime.

At one point today, there were 283 Minnesota attorneys doing a training on how to file emergency habeas petitions to keep our neighbors from being shipped out of state and held indefinitely.

That would be the second largest law firm in the state. And that training was just put together this week.

They should be prosecuted, not trained, at this point. They would have to be especially stupid not to recognize they are acting illegally and immorally, therefore training isn't the issue.
A handful of GOP lawmakers are showing an openness to Democrats’ demand that immigration officers should get more training in the wake of the shooting of 37-year-old Renee Good in Minneapolis.
Push for greater ICE training grows on some Republicans
Criticism of ICE has grown among influential voices for the president’s coalition in the wake of the Minneapolis shooting.

Masked federal agents are terrorizing our communities — teargassing babies and pastors, kidnapping our neighbors and shipping them off to foreign torture prisons, and killing innocent people.

But we’re not powerless in this moment. In fact, we have an opportunity to rein in ICE this month.
