I'm JG. I'm from NP. In Chicago. On a bike. He/Him/His.
If you’re in line for the vent, STAY IN LINE
the way my mood lifted on hold at the third pharmacy today trying to fill a paxlovid Rx when this was the hold music

“I've been biking since I was five, so I've been biking for quite a while. It’s been fun - you can travel around different areas, see different environments and different things. For me, biking is mostly traveling and exploring, like going to the Japanese garden.” 🧵

I have finally correctly been identified as a cool kid.
All the cool kids want more building data
We were excited to see energy benchmarking mentioned in the Chicago Central Area Plan 2045, and to see that they want to expand it to more buildings!

Do you know any buildings that would start reporting with this new threshold?

Selling dogs empty fire extinguishers sure feels like a pretty good analogy for many new products.

Dick Durbin stop even showing up. You’d be doing more good by not being there at all.
@durbin.senate.gov check out Budd Dwyer for tips on how to govern
11 Senate Democrats just voted to advance the nomination of a Federal Society judge who used to defend banks and payday lenders:

Durbin
Gallego
Hassan
Hirono
Kaine
Kelly
King
Klobuchar

Chicago mentioned (sort of)
My ex showed our daughter the movie Grease last weekend and, to my horror, she loved it

I already hate basically every musical ever, but this is an especially grating one and now she’s blasting the soundtrack 24/7 I hate it here

Imagine voting WITH Ray Lopez.
An interesting group of alders banded together to create this alternative budget proposal. Note that not everybody who opposes the head tax is included.

How do I block screenshots of Spotify Wrapped? I don't care about what anyone listens to on the platform that doesn't pay artists so it can pay Joe Rogan instead and wants to destroy music and the planet with AI slop.

I have unsubscribed from SO MANY lists today.
Serious mode: Giving Tuesday IIRC started as a heartfelt tongue-in-cheek way to cope during the Great Recession, it wasn't supposed to be a whole thing

Oh, so this is what the save feature is for.
When you book a flight through major travel sites, a data broker owned by U.S. airlines will sell details about your flight—your name, credit card used, and where you’re flying to the government.

We found out how to opt-out of ARC selling your travel data. A guide:

How to Opt-Out of Airlines Selling Your Travel Data to the Government
The Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC), owned by major U.S. airlines, collects billions of ticketing records and sells them to the government to be searched without a warrant. I managed to opt-out…

George Cardenas is just soliciting bribes directly at this point.
For most owners of single-family homes, making sure all applicable exemptions have been filed will probably make more difference than tweaking the assessment.

One can update exemptions outside of appeal windows and they can take effect retroactively.

He means guerilla dismantled and the parts sold to fill gaps in the city budget.
Seriously, these need to be treated as ADA violations, and fined.

Hey, it's not too late to add a new tax to next year's Chicago budget!
Example 1000 of these privately operated machines from Uber blocking access to sidewalks for pedestrians and people using strollers and mobility aids.

If you're supporting the same thing Ray Lopez is supporting, just what are you fucking doing?
A Sunday read — 26 members of the Chicago City Council signed a letter expressing concern about Mayor Brandon Johnson’s proposal to tax wealthy corporations, making them pay their fair share.

Here’s a look at who’s for/against the proposal.

Emanuel killed it. Johnson wants it back. Chicago’s corporate head tax debate is about more than money • The TRiiBE
Proponents say former Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s removal of the corporate head tax left a hole in the city's budget that was never replaced; they want the rich to pay their fair share.
