Hello, new followers! 👋

I post about a blend of climate, tech, urbanism, and biking. To start y'all off, here's a blog post I made in Sept. 2024 about owning a cargo e-bike, and how it can do 90% of what a car can, but for 10% of the cost: viktorkoves.com/2024/09/21/y...
Your First EV Could Be A Cargo E-Bike | Viktor Köves
EVs are here, but I want to show you that your first EV could just be a cargo e-bike that can replace most car trips, and save you a boat-load of money!

But what if you have to haul a 7 foot Christmas tree in the rain? With a cargo ebike and some cam straps, it's no problem at all

Was very happy to talk to Block Club about 18th & Wabash. Some of my words:

“The goal of a protected intersection design is not to improve traffic. The goal is to save lives and create a safer space in an urban environment.”

A full house tonight for @nikhunder.com spinning some incredible records - Herbie Flood, Hiatus Kyote, and Magdalana Bay all sound great on the Scuba's sound system 🎶

I was walking around Lincoln Ave today, and it was stunning how much more pleasant it felt to walk because of the protected bike lanes - it felt like drivers were actually following the speed limit, and crossing the street felt a lot easier too!

Protected bike lanes truly aren't just for bikes 💪
Ladies and gents, the first Lincoln Avenue protected bike lane!

Kicking off 2026 with some fantastic news: there were zero traffic fatalities in the 1st Ward last year. When we invest in traffic calming infrastructure, we save lives.

Not all heroes wear capes - some have an ebike 😎
My 2nd season hauling Christmas trees to recycle for my neighbors. It’s a “pay what you want” model where proceeds go to support street vendors. Tomorrow my goal is to haul 5! 🦾🚲🌲

If you can do so, riding a bike daily is a really good middle finger to the oil barons ruining the world.

Now playing in the Viktor home - Ego Death by The Internet.

I'm a big fan of Syd, who is the lead vocalist, and it's a great R&B album that was apparently Grammy nominated!

Biking in winter really isn't too bad, especially if you're making neighborhood trips. I was going a few miles to the library, and I just added heavy gloves to my regular outfit - Converse were still just fine!

An absolutely incredibly written, thoughtful, and beautiful piece on reclaiming the web and building our own websites, from @henry.codes.web.brid.gy.

There's a reason I have the chiwho.bike site as the home for my work - it's always there, and I control it!

Photography buds - any suggestions on a decent quality online print service?

I'm considering printing off some photos to frame and want something decent, but thinking online so I can do it more often

Last night I made homemade eggnog and I've learned it's one of those things you should literally never, ever, for any reason buy in a store.

It tasted so good and yummy and smooth, and took 30 minutes for a big batch!

For NYE I made a steak dinner. I had never made a steak before, and wanted to do something I was intimidated by. It turned out great!

In 2026, may we all try things we’re intimidated by, excel at them, and have our confidence grow accordingly
