In keeping with the 'blue sky' vibe, my new profile pic is of #CraterLake in #Oregon - taken from the top of Mt Scott, which is the highest point along the crater rim. Good times.
Believe me we ‘love’ them maybe even more 🤦‍♂️
Would you like to guess how much I love charity annual reports which are published (even by the regulator) as scanned PDFs so you can't search in them?

I just can’t. It’s no wonder the party brand is in the toilet. They shouldn’t be surprised when they start getting primaried… 🤯
". . . Dems picked a fight on health care and couldn't even find the spine for that," the NOAA employee said. "I would rather be an actual pawn. At least pawn sacrifices are calculated and achieve something. All this for a fucking meaningless vote."

‘We’ll see’. That’s the strategy? Are you kidding me? Is this for real? I really don’t understand. Are our Senators that unaware of or insulated from the seething fury from the Democratic Party base they’re about to be on the receiving end of? Do they not care, or do they just not get it?
Shaheen: "We've heard from a number of our colleagues on the other side of the aisle that they're willing to come to the table, they're willing to work with us once the govt is open to get this done. We've heard the same thing from the White House. So now we'll see if they're really gonna work w/us"

Absolutely. US media still haven’t learned this lesson. Presumably his claim has zero regulatory jurisdiction here? If the BBC caves it will only make their PR problems worse. And why should license payers pay for such a settlement?
Trump makes these threats because it leads to organisations making the risk-based calculation that settling for, say, $30m is better than the very small risk that he actually wins a $1bn payout in court.

Under no circumstances should the BBC cave on this.

BBC reporting on Trump isn’t that it’s biased against him. He incited an insurrection and is now trying to rewrite history, pardoning the violent criminals who took part. He’s bullying and extorting money from US media firms and now is trying it on here. British politicians shouldn’t stand for this.

Hmmm I thought there was a word for this… starts with a P… perj….
In a humiliating ruling, a court found that Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino repeatedly lied about his actions during an anti-immigrant sweep in Chicago.

It’s a shopping mall more than an airport. And I’m not sure who the shopping mall is for.
If LHR T5 dedicated 1/10th of the space it uses for retail and actually thought about passagers…

JFC. This will not help anything, it will make it much worse.

This guy is really auditioning to be on the front bench at the mass trials we are going to need when this is all over.

Somehow it’s adding an icing of vulgar vandalism and tacky dictator chic to the shit cake of much more serious abuses, lies, corruption and criminality
The destruction of the East Wing really bums me out in a way that I wasn't expecting.

I guess some of it is about the destruction of history. But I think it's mostly about the feeling of helplessness. There's nothing we can do to stop him.

Nobody is coming to save us. And it's going to get worse.

Why is this coming from the party chair and not N10 or the PM?
NEW: Labour condemn Tory plan to strip people of indefinite leave to remain:

“It’s utterly grotesque that Tories want to deport people with the lawful right to be here to achieve ‘cultural coherence’.

“This policy would mean tearing families apart and ripping out our neighbours from communities."
October 22, 2025 at 4:26 PM
I have 0.0000000% confidence that any of this would be implemented ‘fairly’ and ‘sensibly’. I’m not alone. The effect will basically be ‘hostile environment’ for anybody not born here, regardless of ‘net contribution’.

“Let’s call this turn what it is: racist. This is racism of a type that mainstream politicians have not encouraged since the early 1980s. Politicians seem to be fuelling the debate rather than calling it out.” > yup
Who’s “white British”? Who cares? Well, an increasing number of right-wing politicians and commentators, it turns out.

And as the summer wore on, what began as ethno-curious wonkery seems to have gone beyond online right-wing circles, writes @benansell.bsky.social: www.prospectmagazine...

Also they just have no idea what they are talking about. It would be hundreds of thousands of gainfully employed people who are contributing a net positive to society - sometimes for decades. It would profoundly damage the country - including the health services.
Lam has heard the charge that retrospective breaches of past promises to deport those who played by the rules are unfair.

She accepts it is unfair & has "great personal sympathy" for those she will unfairly deport.

She says she believes that fairness should apply to British citizens "alone"
October 19, 2025 at 8:32 AM
The home office will of course be fully prepared for the deluge of citizenship applications from people who’ve been here for years … amirite? 🤦‍♂️🫠
Your regular reminder that scrapping ILR for people who have come here and played by the rules, which is what Lam proposes here, is a position supported by 3% of the public
Sunday Times interview Tory "rising star" Katie Lam

She is clear she wants lots of legal migrants to be told to "go home" so as "to leave a mostly but not entirely culturally coherent group of people"

(The interviewer suggests she is scrapping ILR or stripping people of it)
