Sources told @theathletic.com the WNBA’s salary structure proposal would result in players receiving less than 15% of total league revenue.

Plus, news on many more proposal items with @benpickman.bsky.social, including a (mandatory?) draft combine, benefits and more. www.nytimes.com/athletic/685...

this is it right here. i just want some consistency in HOW they are ranking teams. The same things should matter for everyone!
This is actually what’s annoying about the committee, if their rankings consistently favored the same teams or their explanations consistently applied the same logic, I could get behind the teams they were pushing. Instead we get a shuffling and a new justification every week
I think good faith arguments can be made to put a number of very good teams in almost any order this year. And good faith arguments can also be made about what should be the most and least important criteria to sort them out too!

If Virginia, JMU, and UNLV lose, perhaps the world would rather see a 10-3 Kennesaw State than an 8-5 Duke. We had to play Indiana you know. Did Duke have to play Indiana
Just had a conclave w/ @jasonkirk.fyi and I'm ready to release the following probability: The Playoff chances of the 9-3 Kennesaw State Owls are lower than 1% but considerably higher than 0.0%

The committee thinks Notre Dame is better than BYU and BYU is better than Miami.

Why would the committee all of a sudden think Miami is better than Notre Dame based on BYU losing?

Makes no sense.

Why does head-to-head matter more when the teams are next to each other as opposed to when they're separated by one team? Beats me.

Miami's best-case scenario is BYU loses by a couple touchdowns or more to Texas Tech, and the Hurricanes move up and are next to Notre Dame.

Then, for whatever reason, it's "easier" to take the head-to-head result into consideration, and they flip-flop with ND at the last second.

Auburn did not win a single SEC game at home this season. Not one. Zero.
CFP chair Hunter Yurachek: "Alabama, in a rivalry game on the road, Auburn has been an extremely tough place to play for many teams this year, such as Georgia and Vanderbilt. The committee gave Alabama respect for winning that game."

for going on ten years, every time the College Football Playoff chair tries to explain why they ranked the teams the way they did, their answers somehow make it less clear
CFP chair Hunter Yurachek: "We're not comparing Notre Dame and Miami side-by-side." Says the grouping has mostly been Alabama, Notre Dame, BYU and Miami, so that one H2H result is one of multiple factors at play.
December 3, 2025 at 1:15 AM
Thanks Nicole I already felt so great about Miami's shot at sneaking in this year now I feel better!
There is also a world in which BYU loses to Texas Tech and isn't really penalized for it bc they only lost to one team all year (twice). And BYU stays as the buffer between Notre Dame and Miami.
December 3, 2025 at 1:32 AM
They also said they aren't comparing Miami and Notre Dame directly so it's not like our win over them is ever going to matter.

So the whole this isn't comparing teams to each other?

Lmao
So the answer to @brettmcmurphy.bsky.social's question last week about whether the committee would consider Lane Kiffin leaving Ole Miss was valid.

Hunter Yurachek says that there was no game without Lane Kiffin, so no data point, so no real consideration.

Lol
Hunter Yurachek says it's "easier" to use the head-to-head win as a data point if the teams are back to back in the rankings.

even if BYU and Bama lose I think this committee still sends Alabama and ND over Miami, because that is what they have chosen to do with the rankings at every opportunity. TAMU has one of the best wins in the country over ND but ours is irrelevant.
I think Hurricanes' fans two hopes entering conference title weekend:

1. BYU loses, Miami moves to 11, committee flips Miami and Notre Dame.

2. If Alabama also loses, it's enough for the committee to move Bama down behind Miami, and ND and Miami both get in.

This selection committee cared *deeply* about Alabama's bad loss to Florida State ... for like two weeks. A win over 5-7 Auburn was apparently enough to offset that & move 'em ahead of Notre Dame?

Just keep Alabama ahead of ND the whole time! What's the point in flip-flopping?
