As a Midwesterner who hates letting people merge, I've had to adopt a system where I always allow one merge per diving excursion, and one additional one for each time I am allowed in by another driver.
I think there was a slate article that suggested this plan.

I think under midwestern driving culture you are under no obligation whatsoever to let somebody else merge into your lane, regardless of circumstances

People who argue "who cares it's just for kids" all I can say is fuck right off. Kids deserve thoughtful, well-made movies that challenge them just as much as adults do. Kids aren't stupid, and they remember how movies affect them basically forever.
