Yeah if you have any academic standards at all, this is a fail. At college level, you don't get to just "think" things. You have to have a reason for it. It's what makes academic work different to just "having an opinion".

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Remembering talking to a Chilean refugee who had finally been able to visit Chile after decades in UK. "It was nice, but it is a different country now." She had put down roots in the UK and raised a family. Her life was, and is, here. This is the human reality that Mahmood and Labour want to destroy

Cutting PIP in order to increase labour supply amongst disabled people makes no sense because PIP doesn't come with work restrictions and isn't means-tested.

Either the chancellor doesn't know that (unlikely) or she doesn't want to admit that she wants to cut PIP to save money.

The case for tax rises is stronger & clearer than Reeves pretends. It's that, given our lack of productive capacity, we have an inflation problem, which means that the alternative to tax rises is either infeasible cuts in public spending or higher mortgage rates.

Was just canvassed by a reform activist who said it was not the party's policy to end indefinite leave to remain for everyone and that deporting my wife and mother of my daughter would be "crazy" and "we're not monsters". Has anyone told Nigel and Richard this?

Maybe he'll now remember how much he took from Putin's propaganda broadcaster Russia Today for all his TV appearances when he was a MEP?

This is doing numbers on social media right now and it's so depressing how people truly yearn for this shit and want to preserve that feeling indefinitely like a mausoleum of false memories.

It’s gone so quickly from ‘boat people’ to all immigrants. So quickly from ‘I don’t mind if they come here legally and pay taxes’ to ‘actually it’s anyone foreign’. We are living in the ‘first they came for’ poem. All to give the population a scapegoat so the super rich can hoard yet more wealth.
