I do not like or respect any of the republican women who voted to release the files today, but I don’t think that a confirmed abuser should have been allowed to corner them in a room to pressure them into not telling everyone else about further abuse. Burn it all the fuck down man.

Exactly this. Republicans were exhibiting a classic hostage-taking strategy. Call them out on this. It's a monstrous thing to do to use starving kids as a political tool, but *especially* when you consider they did it to ensure that healthcare costs would go up. Truly evil shit.
instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

The US Senate is an aristocracy, not a representative legislature. It is only available to independently wealthy people, and gives some populations outsized power while disenfranchising others. There's no recall mechanism for bad actors, so they are largely insulated from the electorate.
