remember when smoking was banned and bars and restaurants lost their god damned minds about how they would be destroyed by government overreach and their livelihoods are at stake and then it went into effect and it was fine and actually better for everyone.

Every city in America (but particularly in CA) is sitting on a gold mine of revenue that would take a stroke of a pen to unlock: it’s called zoning reform

It magically turns one (prop 13-tax limited) property into *many* (reassessed) properties

So wild seeing a City Councilmember post about masked federal agents assaulting and killing people, and the comments are all ”What are you doing about the parking fees???”
What if the societal issue that inspired and mobilized you to action was having to pay for parking

(dumb observation) a key distinction between the sides is that:

one is perfomatively “tough guy” _all the time_ until they actually need to be “tough guy” and then they fold.

the other is chill until they get pissed off enough to go _actual real_ “tough guy” when the situation requires it.

The number of people who get their political information/views from TikTok is about to become hugely problematic (if it wasn’t already)
TikTok has been under new leadership for like a day and I made a slideshow with posts from the ICE rally today and it immediately got out under review and is not being published. Incredible.

Does anyone have any idea how we break the echo chambers? No Trump voter in my family will ever know what actually happened to Alex Pretti or Renee Good. They will believe the officers were justified. They will watch Fox News and that will be the end of it.
