Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says “It hurts when I do this.” Doctor says “Treatment is simple. Don’t do this.” Man bursts into tears.

“But Doctor, I *am* do this.”

Good joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum. Curtains.
Let me just say that I do think there should be some sort of rule that says if you lost money here it is on you a bit for being enough of a sucker to invest in Eric Adams’ “crypto currency to help fight antisemitism” because that’s a “painting of a tunnel on a mountain” level trap
Eric Adams, former NYC mayor, launched a memecoin (cryptocurrency) today. He marketed it as an “NYC Token” and used media appearances and his social media to promote it.

Within hours, Adams then drained its liquidity, apparently having scammed investors out of $3.4 million—a move called a rug pull.

Hardly the most important part here but you don’t need to be from a military family to see why attacking under disguise of civilian transport is horrifying and despicable and endangers actual civilian transports

the only reason "abolish ICE" is seen as radical is that no one will say it but the far left. if every normie Democrat started saying it tomorrow it would move the overton window so far you'd have to squint to find it. my kingdom for leaders who understand they can shape public opinion.
Democrats officially going all in on the mealy mouthed “ICE needs training” narrative.

No. ABOLISH ICE.
WARNER: It used to take 5 to 6 months to get trained. They've now lowered the training period to 47 days. Why 47 days? Because Donald Trump's the 47th president. Tell me that's a rational approach

KERNEN: I'm not taking that bait

WARNER: Joe! You can't pick your facts

Has anyone read “Ship of Fools” (“Unto Leviathan” in the UK) by Richard Paul Russo and wants to talk about or more importantly has recommendations of other books like it?

I think I am a genre anti-realist and they should switch to nominating performances within genre categories, so like best comedic lead performance, best dramatic lead performance; that way you can handle shows/films that are pretty serious with real currents of humor w/o calling them comedies
ok just catching up here but the Golden Globes separated Best Picture into Dramas, like the musical Sinners, and Comedy/Musicals, like the drama One Battle After Another? Got it, cool, this makes sense

A few years ago, it felt cringe to call Twitter "X", the ridiculous new name. I'm coming around on that now though. I think 2026 is the year when Twitter means the old site where you could tweet a joke at Sears, and X means the current site with Grok and the Nazis and all the rest.

Pretty willd how the DOJ just straight up stopped releasing the Epstein files even though they're legally obligated to do so.

So does every one accused of a crime get $10k from Ackman or is there a lottery process or a form to fill out or does he only do this for people who are accused of really heinous shit or what? Can someone ask him for more details about his commitment to the principal of innocent until proven guilty?
Bill Ackman has now confirmed what I first reported yesterday morning, that he donated $10K to the GoFundMe for Jonathan Ross, in a tweet.

Oh, right, the downside of a British Invasion is that terf island is out of their fucking minds
I remember the last time there was a huge influx of British people, and they all seemed extremely pleasant and nice until anybody mentioned trans people in any context and then I felt like I was in 1930's Germany.l
hope the UK follows through and blocks twitter but bsky is simply not prepared for becoming disproportionately British

An administrative warrant is signed by ICE, not a judge. Without a signed judicial warrant, agents do not have the right to enter your home.

You have the right to ask to see the warrant.

You have the right to refuse entry without one.

Naive question from an outsider:

If (for example) Claude Code is so good, why aren't we seeing more open source developments? Like, why isn't OpenTTD or whatever accelerated? Why isn't there an open source alternative to Duolingo?

Or is it good only for personalized tasks?

If Elrond really wanted to defeat Sauron he would have just shoved isildur off the ledge when they were in mt doom and saved everyone a lot of drama
elrond talks a lot of shit about isildur and men in general for a guy who didn’t actually have to contend directly with sauron’s will while in the seat of his power. not obvious to me that he would’ve cast the ring into the fire either! like maybe a take beat and humble yourself pal
