I write & publish literary fiction for hackers, geeks, and fans of Borges, Lem & Nabokov. I’ve written 4 novel(la)s; another novel in the works. Cyberpunk/biopunk technopothestic biodigital thrillers, some of them metafictional. All concern hacking of both silicon- & carbon-based systems. 💙📚 🪐📚

Re: Scenario 2: When I was a freshman at Hamilton College, two people from the Honor Court knocked on my door; they told me I had been accused of cheating on an un-proctored exam. This could lead to expulsion. FEAR!! Fortunately I wasn't taking the course in which this alleged cheating happened.

I have been muting accounts that doesn't use alt-text and adding them to my "Not alt-text" list since I got here. I wish it was a mod list. It would be nice if you could convert regular lists to mod lists.

Muting/blocking larger accounts who don't use alt, unfortunately.

Fake alt, like "a picture" are really disappointing, too.

It's all this aesthetic pettiness. Rich boomer dudes with no real material worries so they spend all their worrying & complaining energy on something they saw while out and didn't like the look of.

I mean, this is really desperate shit, isn’t it? I am a great deal more woke-sceptic than pretty much all of Bluesky but I honestly can’t be bothered to care about the National Trust putting vegan tampons in the men’s toilets and neither should you

I love a nice storm but I don't love nasty storms that make me worry instead of just enjoying looking out the window, hearing rain on the skylight. I don't love trees falling across roads, knocking down power lines, leaving us in the dark. Or worse. I wonder which kind this nor'easter will be?

Did I have Ms. Rachel taking on Obama on my bingo card in 2026?

No, I did not.
Dear @barackobama,

I saw in your statement you said “Israeli families” & “the people of Gaza.”

Palestinians have families, too.

This kind of language contributes to dehumanization. Dehumanization is part of what caused so many to stay silent as 20,000 children were killed in this genocide.

I’ve sat with wonderful Palestinian families from Gaza. They look at their children just like we look at ours - with all the love & hope in the world.

Love,
Ms Rachel

Picture how big the Hoover Dam is. An absolute unit. The Hoover Dam has a power capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW).

The solar farm that the Admin just cancelled could have produces 6.2 GW of power. That's more than 3 Hoover Dams.

SCOOP: The Bureau of Land Management says the largest solar project in Nevada — the Esmeralda 7 mega-farm — has been canceled

The news was quietly dropped via a sudden website update with no public word from any of the companies involved or a statement from the agency

Esmeralda 7 Solar Project Has Been Canceled, BLM Says
It would have delivered a gargantuan 6.2 gigawatts of power.

The rupture “raises fresh doubts about whether Trump, operating with a hollowed-out national security team and a fragmented China strategy, is prepared for Beijing’s latest power play.”

Trump has gone totally mad. It's 25th Amendment time all day, every day. He's living in a totally invented, fictional world. And he's old and in ill-health.

It's outrageous, reckless, choose your word that Republicans haven't done more to deal with this.

~10 years my pager went off 5 AM: requesting help clearing downed trees blocking roads. (Electricity went out ~ midnight.) I got dressed, got in my car — & found my only exit route blocked by 3 big oak trees. So I walked with a flashlight 2 miles to firehouse. Hope this storm ain't like that one.
jsundman.bsky.social
It's not even supposed to get here til noon Sunday, but already the National Weather Service has issued storm, high winds, & coastal erosion watches. Good bet that no ferries will run from late Sunday until noon Tuesday. I remember clearing roads after storms like this from my firefighter days. 2/3

Longtime friends here know I love to post 6 AM when rain is falling on the skylight above my desk in the attic office in my falling-down house on the dirt road that dead-ends into a nature preserve on Martha's Vineyard — Dear Wife asleep & all else quiet. But this nor'easter is fucking nuts. 1/2

Do you really have any rights if they are openly saying they will just make up reasons to detain you?
thematthill.bsky.social
Wow. Greg Bovino admits on camera that his agents can detain people if you look scared, change your demeanor, or grip a steering wheel too tight.

As his unmasked agents walk around with large guns to scare you, they may arrest you just for that — even if you're a U.S. citizen.

I'd be a lot happier if she were president now. I'm not opposed to her running again.

posturing like you're the victim of pro palestinian protestors really does not impress me though.
