This is extremely accurate, and it's why I wish editors got a credit on books. Sometimes you learn who edited a bunch of your favorite books and you're like ah. I see. It's a job that requires a keen literary eye AND people skills, which is a tough mix!

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.

Sometimes I add books to my TBR pile and forget why I added them in the first place.

Pleasantly surprised now that I added this one, because it contains the original story that the movie “Arrival” was based on. 🤍

There’s also a second story that a different movie was based on too!
