The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the 2025 #NobelPeacePrize to Maria Corina Machado for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy

Yes. And on Norway too. And probably Swede. Given how petty and dimwitted Trump is I wouldn't put anything past the thin-skinned shitebag.

Also...a magnificent "fuck you, you orange jizz stain" from the Nobel Committee. Expect retaliation from President Tiny Hands.

A professor is threatened online, has his flight canceled mysteriously, and this is all his university has to say:

“Rutgers University is committed to providing a secure environment (...) where all members of our community can share their opinions without fear of intimidation or harassment,
US anti-fascism expert blocked from flying to Spain at airport
Rutgers University professor who published book on antifa was informed at boarding gate that his trip was cancelled

Passive aggressive level 100 this is how we roll in the PNW 🤣 Protesters in Portland are going ice fishing with donuts as bait on fishing polls, holding dance offs in front of ICE barricades in goofy costumes and just being incredibly annoying to ICE there's no violence from protesters whatsoever.

#whalewednesday The spectacular early toothed whale Xenorophus sloanii from the Oligocene (~28 mya) of South Carolina! This is a critical transitional fossil, known from about a dozen skulls and partial skeletons. Read more about Xenorophus here on my blog: coastalpaleo.blogspot.com/2024/03/the-...

It should be universally recognized by every American-on all sides of the political spectrum-that no president can take away freedom of speech

After all, it’s the bedrock of our democratic system

But-sadly-with the corrupt MAGA Supreme Court

It sure feels like our rights are no longer guaranteed

Trump: "We took the freedom of speech away because that's been through the courts and the courts said you have freedom of speech, but what has happened is when they burn a flag it agitates and irritates crowds."

Trump: "I can create peace with tariffs. I'm using them for a lot of different reasons. If that power was taken away, it would be a terrible terrible day for our country. I would say many of the things I've done could be eradicated ... these are enemies of the country that are pursuing that lawsuit"

Adelita Grijalva won her election fair and square.

Now House Speaker Mike Johnson is refusing to swear her in because she would be the final signature to release the Epstein files.

Mr. Speaker, respect democracy. Obey the law. Swear Representative Grijalva in immediately.

Today my @nytimes.com colleagues and I are launching a new series called Lost Science. We interview US scientists who can no longer discover something new about our world, thanks to this year‘s cuts. Here is my first interview with a scientist who studied bees and fires. Gift link: nyti.ms/3IWXbiE

Bray is a historian at Rutgers who received death threats after landing on Turning Points USA's Professor Watchlist. As a result, he announced he was moving to Europe. And then this happened.

This kind of harassment and abuse of scholars is Charlie Kirk's legacy and it's only getting worse.

“Someone” cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’

It was a blunt 31-page opinion issued by a judge Trump appointed to the bench in his first term in office declaring that Trump’s effort to federalize Oregon National Guard troops likely “exceeded his statutory authority” and likely violated the Tenth Amendment.

Law Dork on Saturday’s TRO:
Federal judge blocks Trump's National Guard mobilization in Oregon
"The President’s determination" that the Guard was needed "was simply untethered to the facts," Judge Karin Immergut, a Trump appointee, found. DOJ is appealing.
