I've made a bunch of graphic novels. Most recent: CAROUSEL SUMMER (kids) and I HATED YOU IN HIGH SCHOOL (adults).

I teach comics & illustration around Vancouver. I spend my spare time sewing.

Portfolio can be found here: http://www.kagcomix.com/
I'm taking an intro to painting college course & it is soooo cool and inspiring to see my classmates' work every week.

I listened to like 9 hours of the 4th wing audiobook yesterday & I think the thing I'm having the most trouble with is that it doesn't really feel like the book has anything to say. I think I just got spoiled by reading better fantasy books recently that were fun, dramatic, and also made me think.

I’m usually so bad at taking my own advice, but I’m gonna hang onto this one because I still feel this way. Art by itself won’t save us by itself, but community can. And I think it will.
Not to be unkind, but I am so impatient about the “what’s the point of making my little zines/comics/crafts/art when the world is on fire” sentiments. I get it, but saving the world is not a responsibility shouldered by your art! That’s what being a neighbor, a friend, and hell, a citizen is for!!!

I finished the pants, but in my hubris I didn't make a toile (I rarely do these days, I'm committed to making alterations later), and so the crotch curve is Not Right For Me so at some point in the future I'm going to have to unpick a bunch of top stitching & redo it.
look at the details on these pants i'm making

jack asked if i would sketch up a poster to tell people in nearby neighborhoods about the partnership between flock and ring, and this is what i came up with. it can be printed on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper.

ahhh this explains a weird email i got earlier this month. something felt off so i ignored it & i was kind of wondering what the scam was.
Last September I reported on how scammers are using generative AI systems (LLMs) to create fake book club communities, including Discord chats with AI-powered members.

As an update, the scammers are getting better. Check out this new scam email I received today. 1/

ok i did, in fact, successfully sew a couch cover & it turned out ridiculously cute!

Couch feat. the quilt I made two years ago, cushions I made, and 2 ikea cushions to balance it all out.

my overly ambitious project today is that i'm going to try and make a couch cover. our couch is ikea's cheapest (because it's the only one small enough to fit in our apartment) & of course the upholstery cannot be laundered. & SURE they used to sell a cover for it but it was so incredibly ugly.

it's deeply annoying how much using the correct needle makes a difference with how easy/neat/nice sewing can be.

I recently had to make up rules so i could remember this difference while creating slides for my classes.

Pallet: the double L's remind me of the slats on the pallet. they're load bearing

Palette: ohonhon fancy comme une artiste

Palate: contains "ate" like what i have done with my mouth
Your occasional reminder:

Pallet: the wooden things used to package items for shipping. Also, a rough bed.
Palette: the range of colors used by an artist. Also, the wooden thing you put paints on.
Palate: What kinds of flavors a person likes. Also, the roof of the mouth.
